Description: The River Exe Cafe is a floating barge just off the Ski lane on the River Exe, and is in the heart of Exmouth’s water sports fraternity, wakeboarding, waterskiing, kayaking, sailing to name just a few, however it is also situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty, protected by Natural England. Open from April to September only . The Exe Estuary is home to many rare birds and creatures including Avocets, Osprey and of course our friendly grey seal. With the potential to take up to 100 people on board the Cafe has been designed very much like the “Ski in Ski out” wooden chalets found on the ski slopes of many ski resorts, but with the intention that the quality of food and service exceeds all expectations of the external look and feel. The barge has a licensed bar and covered outdoor space with heaters and indoor seating to relax well into the evening without suffering the cold. Customers to the barge really are of all ages and walks of life, ranging from the usual river users and water sports enthusiasts to bird watchers, artists and holiday makers. Special events such as birthday parties, anniversaries, stag & hen parties to corporate & team building days can be arranged. Private and exclusive use of the barge is also available.

“Disappointed”
Reviewed 25 May 2014 via mobile

The food was nothing special although the prices meant it should be. Ordered garlic bread and served four pieces for a party of five. Coffees arrived before the dessert.
If it wasn't for the boat trip there there I would say don't bother. How did they get all the awards?

“Second to none for experience and fab food!”
Reviewed 20 May 2014

As we live in topsham and own a little boat we try to get to "the floating cafe" the minute the sun shows it's face. It really is a fab place to be, even just to have a glass of wine while enjoying the views. The food is always fresh and tasty and always plenty to choose from. Although you can only get there by boat, there are river taxis available that the staff here are more than happy to arrange for you. Great place..

“A fab experience but slightly over priced!”
Reviewed 7 May 2014 via mobile

Wow! What a fab place & lovely welcoming staff, a view to die for and delicious food. Only downside is a little over priced. £16.95 for a smoked salmon salad!! (that didn't have a great deal on it) but all over meals were delicious and well presented.

“Excellent location”
Reviewed 7 May 2014

An usual restaurant location which is worth the effort of getting there. A small, well chosen menu offering locally sourced products, including the famous Exmouth mussels. Friendly, helpful staff made our visit a real experience. will definitely go again, Booking advised.

“Don't stagger out of the door”
Reviewed 4 May 2014

Only accessible by boat, pretty good food but not cheap: everything has to come out by boat! Definitely go once, you will have to book, for maximum cool points arrive in your own boat or canoe. Or take the water taxi from Exmouth or Starcross
