Description: The River Exe Cafe is a floating barge just off the Ski lane on the River Exe, and is in the heart of Exmouth’s water sports fraternity, wakeboarding, waterskiing, kayaking, sailing to name just a few, however it is also situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty, protected by Natural England. Open from April to September only . The Exe Estuary is home to many rare birds and creatures including Avocets, Osprey and of course our friendly grey seal. With the potential to take up to 100 people on board the Cafe has been designed very much like the “Ski in Ski out” wooden chalets found on the ski slopes of many ski resorts, but with the intention that the quality of food and service exceeds all expectations of the external look and feel. The barge has a licensed bar and covered outdoor space with heaters and indoor seating to relax well into the evening without suffering the cold. Customers to the barge really are of all ages and walks of life, ranging from the usual river users and water sports enthusiasts to bird watchers, artists and holiday makers. Special events such as birthday parties, anniversaries, stag & hen parties to corporate & team building days can be arranged. Private and exclusive use of the barge is also available.

Had a really nice meal and a great time here. The views are terrific and this is a unique experience because the venue is so great. The staff are lovely, but I would advise removing the tip from the bill and paying it to the staff separately that way you are giving the rewards directly to the people doing the work. I worry otherwise that they do not get the rewards.

Thanks River Cafe great to have you there.

This is a must for visitors. The food is excellent and a reasonable price. You need to take river taxi to get there but that adds to the experience. Enjoy.....

We arrived in what was supposed to be a nice sunny day but was actually cold! It was busy which meant we needed to sit outside initially but there are blankets available and the staff who were all lovely soon got us a table inside. The manager (Nic) appeared highly efficient and as i have Coeliac disease it was reasuring that she knew what gluten free food i could have from the menu. All four of us thought the food was delicious and we would certainly reccommend it to everyone, and would also love to return ourselves.

Just a short ferry ride from Exmouth is this wonderful restaurant planted right in the middle of the River Exe. Need to book and the restaurant will book the ferry (from the Marina) or take your own boat! Ferry costs 5 pounds a head. Very friendly service and food was good and well cooked. We had calamari starter and then fresh plaice and fish and chips as our mains. Too full for dessert! You pay extra for bread and oil. Could be cold on a chilly day but they have lots of blankets around the restaurant.

Part of the restaurant was lost in the gales of January 2014 but it does feel very stable and secure.

Will come again when in Exmouth.

The food was nothing special although the prices meant it should be. Ordered garlic bread and served four pieces for a party of five. Coffees arrived before the dessert.
If it wasn't for the boat trip there there I would say don't bother. How did they get all the awards?
