“Lovely little cafe”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 September 2013

Having just moved to the area I was keen to find somewhere independent to have a good cup of coffee, relax and read my book. And I've found it! Comfy chairs, great coffee and yummy cake. Very relaxing atmosphere and a quiet area. Am looking forward to having lunch there, the menu sounds good.

The enclosed play area makes this one of the most family friendly cafes in Exmouth. Food is good and reasonably priced.

This is undoubtedly the best place in Exmouth for good, wholesome food. The service is friendly and attentive and the home prepared food is of a very high quality

“Healthy homecooking”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 June 2013

I visited The Book Rest again with my parents and as usual the food quality was excellent. There is a daily changing selection of soups, quiche, salads, sandwiches and cakes which are all homemade. The service could have been a bit friendlier but was efficient and fast. There are three different areas in this café including a quiet area with settees and newspapers by the first floor windows for people watching. A fenced off children's area with toys and books to keep the youngest customers occupied. A large café area with tables and high chairs. Their are free newspapers and magazines to browse and a small second hand book area. The gift section includes a small section selling baby clothes and a large assortment of wall clocks. Downstairs the bookshop sells new books at reduced prices. The café and toilet are spotless and there is a baby changing area. The only things which require improvement are: there is only one toilet and the nappy changing area is within this so there may be a queue. We were concerned to see a pot of hot tea placed on the table within the children's play area - convenient for parents and carers but a major health and safety hazard. This café, however, keeps up a consistently high standard.
