“Nice break”
Reviewed 3 April 2013 via mobile

We stayed in room 112 for 3 nights on a B & B basis. Great view and spacious room. Good food, well stocked bar and friendly staff. Car park is a tad small but plenty of free parking in the local roads. Good strength wifi - free of course! Paper delivered to room nice and early. 5 minute walk from the beach - town very accessible. We will return.

We had not stayed in Exmouth before, and chose the Royal Beacon Hotel on the basis of location and view. We were not disappointed, the view from our room was just great. The hotel has been in administration for some time, and I think maintenance is suffering as a result, but we were very impressed by the staff, from the top to the lowest level. Morale is high, nothing is too much trouble, and the whole team is clearly committed to keeping the Hotel going. Well done to everyone. The restaurant is operating to a very high standard, with imaginative menus and first class service. The food was so good that, very unusually for us, we stayed five nights and ate in the hotel four times in the evenings. One of these was a bar meal, and the bar offerings are extensive and good value – it’s a great, friendly bar. A final word, please administrators release some funds for essential maintenance, the management team and this hotel have a great future given a bit of support.

Room Tip: A sea view is essential

We stayed for one night visiting family. It looked good on the internet apart from tired room decor.
Our first impression when we entered our room was overpriced and in need of modernisation.
The bathroom was also old. They are a bit frugal with the heating.
Having commented on the room, the good points are numerous.
The view from the room was fantastic, over the sea front and beach.
The bar and lounge area was very comfortable, and the staff throughout the hotel were perfect.
We intended to eat out but the menu and restaurant looked so good we decided to have our family join us there. It was a good decision. The meal was perfect as was the service.
Breakfast was just as good and set us up perfectly for the journey home.
Would I recomend this hotel? Definitely.

I stayed at this hotel on a business trip to Exmouth after having it recommended to me by a friend who had stayed at the Royal Beacon a couple of years ago. I was certainly not disappointed with his recommendation, the location of the hotel is superb and handy for all amenities. The hotel is traditional with a historical feel to it and the public rooms are welcoming and cosy, especially the bar area. I dined in the hotel on the second evening of my stay and the food was excellent and could not be faulted. Breakfast on both mornings was good too. If I am ever back in the area on business again, I will certainly stay at the Royal Beacon Hotel.

We stayed for 2 nights as we were attending a funeral. The room was cosy with plenty of hangers and draw space. Tea and coffee in the room, bathrooms need updating desperately. Fabulous breakfast made freshly to order!

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in July, as it was the venue for a friend's wedding. The hotel was lovely, I had two different rooms as was with the wedding party one night and with my partner the next, and both rooms were brilliant! The second room was small but it had a lovely en-suite wet room and all the facilities were great.

My friend's wedding day was a lovely day, all the staff were brilliant and the day went really well, with a lovely meal for the wedding and an excellent buffet in the evening.

All in all a lovely hotel!

We returned here to celebrate my 70th birthday with family, old & young. We had a wonderful welcome, almost as though we were old friends ourselves.
Our room was beautifully clean and warm, but the view over the bay was worth the extra it cost even my husband was dumbstruck. We celebrated at the in house restaurant , of which see separate entry.
After an excellent nights sleep in the largest bed it has ever been my pleasure to experience we had the most wonderful breakfast. The bacon was the best ever & the eggs were so fresh we couldn't believe the quality & service.
Overall the staff were friendly, efficient, smart & very helpful: Couldn't fault any of them.
Cannot wait until I can revisit

Room Tip: Pay the extra for a seaview & take the time to enjoy it all.
