“Muy Fantastico!”
Reviewed 28 June 2014

Ate here last night with 3 friends. We ordered one of everything off the menu which was just over 3 dishes each. Every plate was delicious and full of flavour. Sadly we were too full to finish it all!! Fabulous food, highly recommend, good price too.....came to £21pp including a bottle of wine we shared. Will definitely be going again (soon!!)

“Great food great atmosphere”
Reviewed 26 June 2014

We ate here last Saturday in a party of 4, we walked in about 10.30pm without booking and were warmly greeted, a table was cleared and cleaned for us quickly & efficiently and we ordered off the inviting menu. The food was of a high standard freshly prepared and inventive, we all thoroughly enjoyed it so much so we have booked again. Don't pass this restaurant by without giving it a try, you will not be Disappointed.

“Muy bien !”
Reviewed 23 June 2014

Was taken here by my daughter for my birthday supper , and was delighted with the place. My wife, a vegetarian, came along too and we were all pleased with our choices. It had been very busy earlier, so I was pleased to go later in the evening when there was a bit more elbow room! Intimate atmosphere and plenty of options we shared 9 or 10 tapas between us and were all totally satisfied... Good choice of drinks, not too expensive..... Highly recommended.

“Great food, service?”
Reviewed 22 June 2014

We booked for 8.30 and arrived at 8.15 and despite there being empty tables were turned away.
The food was excellent and price reasonable but the service was a bit lacking. Not particularly friendly and attempts at conversation met with terse comments. Such a shame because this place has so much potential. But go eat the food.

“Unexpected gem”
Reviewed 14 June 2014

We are regular visitors to Exmouth and, as self confessed foodies, were delighted to discover such great food on our doorstep. Having eaten the best tapas in Barcelona, Seville and London (I've even made a series about Spanish food for Channel 4!) there was quite a high bench mark, but for its warm welcome, simplicity, variety, great tastes, and lightness of touch, El Olivo is definitely worth the trip. The menu recommends 3 - 4 dishes per person, but we ordered 5 between 2 and mopped up the unctuous marinades and sauces with some lovely bread. Stand out dish for me was the chicken tagine. We cook a lot ourselves and have eaten many in Morocco. The seasoning of saffron and lemon was bang on and the chicken falling off the bone. Tiny gripe - could have done with a little more seasoning in the lovely crisp courgettes and feta fritters. It's lovely too that the little dishes have global appeal - a taste of Spain, Morocco and Greece in one menu. Such good value too. Don't miss it.
