“Welcoming & Friendly”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 December 2013

Having just returned from another stay at the Devoncourt, I feel very relaxed and looked after and was made to feel very welcome by staff who took the time to ask about our plans and make conversation. It was lovely to be recognised as a regular visitor to the hotel. I have found the hotel itself has always been very clean and tidy with a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. There always appears to be staff around, to answer any questions and have always found the reception staff to be welcoming and genuine. We stopped in a top floor suite with fantastic views over the estuary and even more lucky to be able to have a first class view of the garden and all the Christmas lights and decorations now on display. My little girl loved seeing them all. (Aged 2) The hotel is in a great location for exploring Exmouth by foot, whether it be the town or the beach. My only criticism would be that sometimes its not always possible to park onsite, but we have always managed to find a space sooner or later. Already looking forward to another visit soon.

Just returned from a four night break at the Devoncourt, unfortunately we didn't get the requested apartment with sea view and balcony but found ourselves in an apartment (21) in the front car park between the hotel and main road, so woken by dustmen two mornings and general road noise and guests leaving the other two. However, this is the only negative as the apartment was lovely and warm and clean, it had everything we needed including an en-suite, so as only my mother and myself making up our party we had a bathroom each! Plenty of hot water, wide screen tv, two sofas and soft mattresses with duvets. Although we didn't use it apart from making tea/coffee the kitchen is still there as tempted to 'borrow' it, makes mine look so dated. We were not aware we would be amongst the many families/children that turned up for the annual switch on of the hotel Christmas lights, what a treat to see so many excited faces and I don't envy whoever had the responsibility for ensuring all the lights worked, what a lovely pre Christmas surprise. We tried Brasserie16 the first evening and didn't bother trying to find anywhere else to eat the other nights as we thoroughly enjoyed both the food and the attentive service the restaurant staff gave every evening.
Would we stay at this hotel again? Yes, in fact would love to return with the grandchildren next year for the grand Christmas light switch on.

The hotel was my setting for an excellent weekend meeting with a group of old friends.
Everything was right from a welcoming and friendly reception;
a room that was very well fitted and equiped;
a restraunt that gave good service and the evening meal and breakfast were excellent;
the gardens, as in the photo are super, but with the Xmas lights well what a setting!
a super seaside setting with so much more locally. Lovely estuary views and coastline walks. Just around the corner and you are on the Coastal footpath. 30 minutes and we were on the Jurasic Coast and its varied coastline!
We didn't use room service or the Spa this time so have not commented.
We will be back!!

Booked an apartment that slept six. Ideal for our two girls (aged 10 and 7) and their grandparents who joined us. The view across the bay was fantastic and the Christmas lights in the garden were great. The girls really enjoyed the swimming pool. The leisure facilities lack a certain modernity but the pool was lovely and warm, and merited a second visit before check-out. The staff were helpful and friendly.

Stayed here for a night in November. Staff were helpful and friendly. The room was very spacious and warm. The room was clean throughout. Bed very comfortable. Quiet location but within a 10 minute walk of the town centre and a three minute walk to the beach.

My sister & I drove down to Exmouth from London for a short break in Devon & picked this hotel after reading the reviews. It is a lovely hotel & we really enjoyed its 'oldish ambiance' - it adds to it charm. The staff were very good & helpful. We moved rooms to one with a wonderful view & balcony - was just perfect. The resturant food was fine with an adequate wine list - which we took advantage of, joined in aquarobics & yoga classes where everyone was very friendly. My advice is to go to this hotel while it is still owned by the current owners, it is bound to change, which will be a shame I feel.

Room Tip: Get a room with a sea view & a balcony
