just returned from five days at the imperial we loved Exmouth and the hotel was in a really good position on sea front for getting around . Our room was really nice with a lovely view (worth paying extra for sea view ) clean and tidy . resterant lovely but hetic ! , we didn't get the same table twice .staff lovely but not very fast and food was a bit hit and miss compared with other coast and country hotels .Bar was VERY expensive but not busy as most people seem to go to bed after dinner or if not about nine pm !!! we are in our mid fifties but felt like teenagers ,most people there were older than our parents they were lovely but you felt a bit like a visitor in a care home .

Room Tip: pay for sea view

Thank you for your review.
I am pleased you enjoyed the majority of your stay with us. The hotel has stunning views and our sea view rooms are very popular with returning guests. The restaurant is a real feature in the hotel with its high victorian ceiling and its chandeliers.I will review your comments on service with the restaurant manager

Kind Regards Andrew

Another long weekend at this hotel, good position on promenade with plenty of parking. Needs some TLC but good value, you know what you're getting with Coast & Country(Shearings) and £130 for 3 nights is not bad! Ideal position to wander into the town centre, visit marina for a boat trip, or just out and about. Ample grounds could be a real asset but sadly neglected, same for the pool which is closed. Despite all that, staff are good, very helpful and nearly all are locals!!

Room Tip: Possibly upgrade to a sea-view superior room? Depends on the weather and not all rooms have balconies.

Thank you for your review. I am pleased you found us good value for money and that you enjoyed your stay with us.Thje hotel is in an ideal position for exploring Exmouth. The gardens did suffer this year mainly due to a sustained period of dry weather. We are currently restoring some of our lawns and flower beds.
I will pass on your compliments to the team at the hotel.

Just returned from 7 days at the Imperial Hotel, we had booked for only 4 nights but decided to stay for a further 3 days. We had a great double room with balcony and sea view. Fortunately the weather was great and the balcony was a great bonus. The restaurant was excellent with the menu and service first class. The bar and terrace were good again overlooking the grounds and sea. The swmming pool was however looking very tired with broken chairs and sunbeds. I understand that it is going to be removed and the area planted out. This is a shame as the Hotel has plenty of grounds already and the pool if upgraded would surely be the better option.
The hotel was clean and the staff extremely helpful. The location could not be better and all in all it was a very pleasant short break and good value for money.

Room Tip: Well worth upgrading to bedroom with sea view

Thank you for your vbery positive review of the hotel.I am pleased you enjoyed all aspects of your stay at the hotel and I will pass this on to all concerned.
As mentioned previously we are investing monies to improve the gardens and create a relaxed seating area were guest can enjoy a cold drink or a bar lunch. We hope to see you in the near future!

This hotel is much in need of some TLC, the room was looking very tired and the bed was very unconformable and well passed its sell by date. The rooms were clean but the hotel needs to use a little less shake and vac as the smell reminded me of an old peoples home. The staff were very polite and pleasant and the breakfast was good but they struggle to offer quick service when the hotel is full. The bar drinks are very pricey four GT's and two pints £23 and there appeared to be no waiting service. Reception is not always attended so this can be a nuisance if you are pushed for time and want to leave you key (I do not like leaving key on counter for security reason when no one is in attendance. Sea view is misleading from some rooms. Not good value for the standard offered.

Room Tip: South side of hotel is where sea view rooms are but beware not all offer great views. Free car parking for residents is a plus and it is very close to the beach

Thank you for taking the time to post your review.
I am sorry that you felt we were pricey for the service standards and accommodation at the hotel. We constantly review our standards and take our guest comments seriously. The bar prices are reviewed and are in keeping with the local hotels pricing structure.I will look into the beds in your room for replacement

Large seafront hotel...
Friendly reception staff and waiters...
Two course meal for £10, was excellent value....( in imposing high ceilinged room..)
Sadly the pool is being closed... Lounge and bar over look large gardens and the promenade..
Free parking and walking distance of beach, town and river estuary...
Would stay there again...

Thank you for your positive feedback.I agree the hotel has an excellent location. The decision to close the pool was not taken lightly. The pool area is in need of refurbishment. Unfortunately the pool is hardly ever used in the summer months and is quite a hard looking area.
In order to keep the hotel looking fresh, we plan to put a new seating area were guests and non residents can enjoy some lunch, relax, unwind and listen to some background music.
