We have stayed at Devon cliffs every year for ten years and I have even holidayed there alone so for the size of the park you certainly feel safe and secure. We have always brought our dog on holiday with us and have become increasingly annoyed at only ever being offered basic accommodation, usually a caravan in overcrowded areas with cold shower uncomfortable bed and poorly equipped (Haven please note not all dog owners own badly behaved unclean dogs!) For this reason we booked this year through Newmans and were able to chose a luxury caravan for the same price as a basic one through haven.

Caravan - we stayed at 70 Karo place, well equipped, gated veranda with stunning views over the sea, very quiet however easy access to amenities. Very comfortable bed, hot shower, tv in bedroom only complaint was it could have been a bit cleaner, given the very easy check in we weren't disappointed

Entertainment - because we booked through Newmans we were charged an additional £58 on arrival for two fun works passes, we imagined this was a must as we stayed at Rockley Park in march and had to show these passes when ever we went anywhere near the main complex. Not the case at Devon cliffs we didn't show our passes once during our holiday. We don't have children so didn't use the pool or evening entertainment so my advise don't bother with them if you don't have kids.

Staff- mixed reviews, the guy on the gate gets a special mention (can't remember his name) very friendly and helpful always has a smile on his face, a great ambassador for haven. Some staff in the spa a bit rude. Found the bar staff very slow and service seemed to be on a free for all basis (regardless of how long you had been waiting) not that friendly either

Location - lots of things to do in surrounding area, trip to pecoramma at beer a must. Stunning views from park which is very clean and tidy if a little hilly in places. Unlike other reviewers we didn't hear much from the firing range and our caravan was very close by.

Value for money - this is the reason we are undecided on a return visit. Having paid £58 for entertainment passes we got very little for our money, haven now seem to charge for everything we spent a small fortune and didn't have children in tow. Free wi-if used to be offered in the main complex now you get charged after 15 minutes, be warned the mobile coverage here is non existent. The beach side cafe is very nice, we ate in the mash and barrel as well very mediocre food ( you can get the same quality food for half the price in the weather spoons in exmouth) drinks prices were very high (a lot cheaper at the pub down road)

Over all advise - if travelling as a couple eat and drink in your van or off park and don't bother with the entertainment passes, if you take children take out a mortgage. If you want luxury book through Newmans and choose a van on the outskirts of the park.

Hi Emma G,

Thank you for your review regarding your recent stay at the park via Newman’s. I’m pleased to hear you were able to book a more luxurious caravan through them when travelling with a dog.
I can appreciate that not all dogs behave badly (being a dog owner myself) however its more out of respect for owners who invest a substantial amount of money into the newer models of caravans and who do not wish for dogs to be in their caravans. Also some customers may have allergies to pet hairs, so we have to limit the pet friendly vans into 2 grades only. The van you stayed in with Newman’s would have belonged to an owner and this owner must be happy with Newman’s letting pets into their caravan, but this isn’t the case for most.

The cost of the entertainment passes allows you to access the swimming pool and evening entertainment. If you were not planning to use these facilities then passes would not have needed to be purchased. From 6pm without a pass you would also not be able to access the food venues in the main complex as you would need to show a pass to gain entry.
The south beach, star bucks and shop are available for you to use at no additional cost.

We generally receive nothing but high praise for all our team across the park, so to hear feedback regarding some of the bar team and the spa team is disappointing, and I have forwarded your feedback onto the department Managers for review. I’m pleased our welcome team at the gatehouse were always helpful and friendly.

The Wi-Fi is provided by an external company, and to offer it across the whole park and not restricted to certain venues, a tariff chart has been applied. You are entitled to 15 minutes free everyday and anything longer than this you will need to pay for.

Mobile signal is not great here, but this depends on the provider you are with, and due to the natural terrain and location of the park it can be a bit hit and miss. This is something beyond our control.

When holidaying at Devon Cliffs but booking through a 3rd party, it’s only natural that if you want to use Haven's facilities there will be extra costs, after all these belong to us, and we have thousands of holiday guests already here that have paid for access to these facilities as part of their direct booking with Haven. It’s only fair to these guests and our owners that any outside bookings pay a cost to have access to our facilities. Entertainment passes are included if you book through Haven direct.

Thank you for leaving your review, and I hope despite any reservations you will decide to return to Devon Cliffs in the near future.

Kind Regards

Michelle

Here we go... Just got home from a week away in Devon Cliffs with the girlfriend, I'll start with the positives which are the park is good, beach is lovely and facilities are superb. The negatives being our caravan (juniper close) wasn't even ready by our 3pm check-in, inside was absolutely filthy, the sink leaked and some lights didn't work. Now for the worst part, the noise from the entertainment complex was insanely loud at night you could hear the music/bass and microphone word for word all night!

I complained about the noise bothering us and the fact our caravan was on the busiest road/route for the drunk people to walk home at night, and was told I should of requested a van away from the complex (never heard of this before?) and was told nothing else was available for us to move into (lies).

We've been to a different Haven site every year and never had a single problem, and will not be returning to this one!

Hi Liam O,

Thank you for your review following on from your stay at Devon Cliffs.

I’m sorry to hear you have gone home with not the best experience behind you. Our caravans should all be cleaned to their key times, and I do hope you reported this to the team immediately so that they could rectify any issues for you. I appreciate all these things should be checked prior to you occupying the unit, but on odd occasions something’s can be accidently overlooked, and we hope our guests can bring these matters to our attention so that we may address them immediately.

I’m also very sorry to hear the noise from the complex and other guests passing by disturbed you. If on arrival at the park we were notified of your concerns regarding the location then we may have been able to move you to another area. If it’s not brought to our attention until the next day or sometime during your stay then due to availability we won’t have anything to move you too as all our customers will have checked in, and we would of been unable to swap you around. Our team who you spoke to in Reception at the time would have been completely honest with you.

I’m sorry that you wouldn’t return to us again, but Haven do offer many smaller parks where it maybe more suitable for yourselves if you are looking for a quiet getaway. Devon Cliffs is the largest all action park in the Haven family, so in comparison to our sister parks it may be a bit more upbeat.

Kind Regards

Michelle

Just returned from a week at devon cliffs. The site is very clean and there is plenty to do. We stayed in karo place and had a fab view of the sea. We were upgraded to a 3 bed deluxe when we only paid for a 2bed. Immaculate caravan and very modern. The views around the park are fantastic. The military firing range was quite noisy on our first day but as time went on either we got used to it or they weren't firing as often as It didn't bother us at all. We didn't stay on site much in the day as we like exploring other places/villages but the evening entertainment was very good. The funstars do a great job and my 3 year old loved the seaside squad every night!
The world of country life park next door is really good, we went twice during our week there. Definitely recommend the deer train to feed them and you even get to walk a goat!
All the staff were very friendly, we ate in the mash and barrel most nights and what with having young children were worried about them being too loud in there but it was mostly families in there and no one batted an eyelid!
Also the weather all week was gorgeous, couldn't have wished for better. Sunbathing on the beach at 8.30 yesterday morning! Lovely.
Only slight negative was that the pool opened quite late, 9.30 is very late for us with young children who are up at 5am, it felt like we were hanging around every morning for the shop or pool to open.

However Would definitely recommend, fantastic site with lovely staff!

Hi Rachael_910711,

Thank you for your review regarding your recent visit to Devon Cliffs. I’m really pleased to hear you had a fantastic week with us.

I’m glad your caravan met your expectations and benefitted from a lovely view. With the terrain of the park that’s one element that benefits from it, with the majority of caravans having a lovely outlook.

It’s great to hear your 3 year old enjoyed the shows with our fun stars. They work hard to keep our guests and families entertained, and when they hear great feedback it is greatly appreciated.

You have definitely been lucky with the weather - let’s hope it’s just a taste of what’s to come for the summer holidays.

The opening times of our swimming pool are set across all Haven Parks. This is because we offer early morning learn to swim classes for children here on holiday who may need some coaching and lessons. And our shop is open from 8am - 10pm daily.

Thank you once again for your review, and we look forward to seeing you back here in the near future.

Kind Regards

Michelle

I am sorry to say this was the worst entertainment of all the haven camps we have been to two nights the entertainment was exactly the same no changes at all the rest of the week the shows were the same theme and no variation you only catered for a small group and not families

Room Tip: caravans away from actiities are best

Hi william l

Thank you for your review regarding your recent visit to Devon Cliffs. I’m really sorry the entertainment fell below your expectations. Our team work hard to provide a wide variety of shows, activities and clubs for all ages and tastes.

The entertainments programme is set to run over a weekly period, and I have checked through thoroughly but cannot see where its remains the same over a few nights. The children’s entertainment with the seaside squad is beach themed, because you are here on a seaside holiday, so although the shows are different, the theme to these will be the same.

I can only apologise that the entertainment failed to meet your requirements on this occasion, but I thank you for providing us with your feedback and will pass it onto the Entertainment Manager for review with his team.

Kind Regards

This haven is by far the best haven i have ever been to. The staff there are always helpful and are great at what they do. They will never hesitate to help you with anything. The food there is very nice. The mash and barrel is by far the best pub I've ever been to. The food at the mash and barrel us certainly 5 stars and i couldn't fault it. The price here is reasonable, same as what you would expect from a beefeater or wetherspoons. There is also a chip shop which has brilliant fish and chips but the line is huge. Also there is a very nice and clean Papa Johns and a Burger King. The arcade is a great place for the kids to have a run around in as it has a quite big play area inside and also has so many entertaining games to play. The swimming complex is mesmerising. You will never see anything so immaculate. It has a large heated pool and a Jacuzzi. It also has a single slide, a set of flumes, a area for kids to play on with small slides attached and a tall flume that will sure to be a ride for the big kids! Outside there are some more flumes and a very warm pool that is always clean and flawless. There are many activities to do there indoor and outdoor at anytime. They are quite pricey though. I always buy a set of passes so we don't have to pay a lot of money. The caravans are quite clean although (like every caravan) quite compact. They are very clean and the things they provide you with are always cleaned. The entertainment at night are very good, the kids entertainment ,associated in bugsys, is entertaining for the little ones. The entertainment for older people is associated in capones, where they hold cash bingo and live bands. The funstars are always lively and getting people involved in all activities. It has a shopping mall which has a spar and a souvenir shop. Also a Starbucks on the complex.
Overall, the best holiday I've ever been to, even better than abroad..
hope this makes you go soon!

We spent half term week at Devon Cliffs Holiday Park. I was a little apprehensive as it was our first time holidaying at a Caravan Park.

The first thing we were struck by when we arrived was just how huge this park is!!! Check in was easy and quick and we were soon on our way, with our park map to our allocated caravan. All my worries about what the caravan would be like were quickly gone as soon as we pulled up outside. It was fantastic!!! Modern, clean, private and with all the mod cons you could wish for. Who knew caravans could be luxurious!!!

The Entertainment Complex was fantastic. The amusements, the activities and the swimming pools were fabulous. Inside pool was great fun and considering the amount of caravans and guests, it was not overcrowded. The crazy golf was great too and once again, never seemed to be overcrowded.

There is plenty of eateries here if you choose to eat out rather than cook. We ate in the Mash & Barrell and the food was fresh, tasty and very good value for money.

The park itself is situated on a really lovely beach, however, there is a steep hill down. Such a beautiful location and it was a huge bonus having the beach on your doorstep.

The staff were all friendly and happy to help. Sometimes there is stigma attached to these places, but Devon Cliffs is fantastic. If you want quiet, you can find it, if you want fun and constant activities, you can find that too. Perfect place for a week in Devon.

Thanks for a great week and huge credit to Haven.

Hi Mark A,

Thank you for your review regarding your recent visit to Devon Cliffs. I’m really pleased to hear all about your lovely week with us.

We do have a large park here - we are actually the largest caravan park in Europe, so we accommodate many families and owners every year. I’m glad your worries were soon rested on checking in and upon arrival to your caravan.

It’s great to hear how much you enjoyed many of our facilities and found our team to be happy and helpful.

We hope to see you back here very soon.

Been to Devon Cliffs a number of times over the past few years. (Sun Holiday promotion)
Check-in was and is very easy and quick.
Negatives first;
We upgraded to luxury but was disappointed with what we had, not sure where the 'luxury' bit came in but I could'nt find it (The Spruces, No 98). Had to use two hands on the kitchen tap to stop it turning around everytime you turned it on. The TV was a tad bigger than our Ipad!!
Positives;
Site was spotless as usual, staff were brilliant (especially Stacy) the young lady behind the terrace bar in the Mash/Barrell, she was very nice and chatty.
Childrens entertainment was a little lacking this year compared to previous years.
..but, having said all that, we will still return next year..

Hi Steve P,

Thank you for your review regarding your recent visit to Devon Cliffs and thank you for your feedback.

I’m pleased check in was quick and easy for you, but am sorry that you were left feeling disappointed with your caravan. Spruces 98 is what we call in Havens’ terminology a Superior van, which is a 10ft wide accommodation that is pet free. This is the next grade up from a Standard but because the Sun holidays use multiple holiday companies for their promotions, they have their own terminology and call these grades luxury. Regardless of the grades and names of caravans they should all be cleaned and maintained ready for your arrival, and I’m very sorry this wasn’t the case with yours. I do hope you reported these issues to our team so that we were able to rectify them for you.

Items such as TV's only come as standard and are only bigger in the higher grades of caravans. Sorry it wasn’t quite to your requirements.

I’m really pleased to hear your praise for the upkeep of the site - we are very lucky to be situated in such a beautiful place of the country and our teams are passionate about it looking pristine at all times. They will be pleased to hear your comments.

I will certainly pass on your praise to Stacy at the terrace bar. Nothing motivates our team more than a pat on the back, and she will be thrilled to hear this.

Thanks again for your review and we hope to see you back here again very soon.

Kind Regards

Michelle
