Let me forget about my problems for a few days

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 24 Feb 2024
Majority of my stay was lovely, I needed to get away and forget about life and going here really accomplished that.

The spa treatments I had (The Deluxe Dartmoor Skin Treatment, Essential Facial and Indulge pedicure) were fabulous and definately helped me relax.

There was plenty of choice in crafts of which I did 9 and was really happy with most. Georgie who I coincidently has majority of my classes with, was absolutely lovely, very helpful, funny and explaining things well and answering questions. The only class I was disappointed in was the 'Glass painting and engraving' on the Tuesday. The craft tutor seemed like he didn't want to be there and advised against glass painting despite that being one of the points of the class, with regards to the engraving I also expected more then just sticking stickers on the bottle and then using a sand blaster.

Food was plentiful and having assigned seating was helpful. Having a wine waiter is a good idea but two of the 4 nights I stayed I did not see them.

The room was nice, clean and tidy. A bit chilly even with the radiator on. The one thing I would suggest is the room was a bit dated and could prehaps do with a makeover.

Overall I would stay again and will be checking for any new crafts next year.

What a super way to spend a few nights away during the Christmas holidays!
We love the Manor hotel and have visited numerous times, but never before in December/January. We enjoyed all the usual crafts and activities (along with a few new additions since our last visit at Easter). There were also some lovely Christmas / New Year extras which made for an extra-special stay.
Food was great, plentiful and with lots of choice, and piping hot as always; the staff attentive and always hard working.
Thank you so much for another amazing stay. Can’t wait until our next visit!

Wow what an amazing hotel, as a lot of people might do I headed to Trip Advisor before booking so was a little wary, BUT I will never understand the negative reviews, and especially the ones about the food.

The whole stay was perfect, reception staff were friendly and chatty, all activity staff were fantastic, and the restaurant was amazing with a great choice of what I would describe as a simple menu. Food was always hot and well presented and because we were sat near the serving area we witnessed regular temperature testing of the food.

Heading back to the negative reviews all I can think is that the hotel just simply is not for you, and maybe you are looking for five star luxury rooms and restaurant.

Now for my one piece of feedback - The evening entertainment was always good, and we enjoyed the nightly bingo/lucky numbers but having been confused because often some tables appeared to win a lot, I discovered that they were running multiple bingo cards at the same time. It is DEFINITELY not a big issue, but the spirit of the game being to provide some entertainment to families, can I suggest you limit bingo cards to one per person. Very easy to implement and may even give a family the chance to win!

Well done The Manor, you are providing a great product at a sensible price.

Another great holiday. Kids loved all the activities and the food was great as usual. Staff always lovely. Special mention to Alex who looked after our kids on the slides. They had an amazing time racing while he facilitated - thanks Alex!
No grumbles but I would advise you bring layers if visiting in colder months. The main building and bedrooms were warm but it’s chilly in the sports courts and some of the craft rooms.
All in all a great break - we will be back!

Just returned from a weekend with family. What a great place. Ages ranged from 71 - 7 years old and there was something for everyone to keep us busy all day. Hotel was clean and food was great. Will definitely return

We attended a weekend event particularly arranged for pickleball by Steve Beale. Having bespoke pickleball courts at the venue was a real bonus and a novelty for some - having never come across them before. The carpet surface was a little surprising at first but we became used to it quickly and it provided excellent pickleball for all styles and skill levels . It was great that those who didn’t play could take advantage of the other activities on offer. The room was clean and comfortable. Dining is self service - we found the food to be tasty and homely at The Manor. The golf resort might be different. Car parking is plentiful. We had no complaints but would agree with others that you would be advised to pick up the site map at reception to find your way around.
