Over the last few months I have had to visit this hotel a number of times and have got to know the team well. The food is excellent, the rooms welcoming and the staff always friendly. It's the first time I have used Trip Advisor for years but feel I have to after reading the recent negative comment. I find the owners very helpful and nothing is too much trouble. I would recommend the hotel.

I have visited several times - sometimes with my wife who is rather hard to please - we both love this hotel because of its warm welcome, fantastic views - also close to Lyme Regis a great favourite of ours. The food is always excellent and the rooms attractive with very nice bathrooms ( we have only been in the main hotel)
Its a great place for walkers - especially if you have a dog as the hotel welcomes them.

At first sight Fairwater Head Hotel looks lovely, has good views and rooms that seem reasonable if a little tired and lacking in comfort. Still at £70 a night not something one can complain about. Then you meet the owner - Basil Fawlty is indeed alive and well and in charge of the Fairwater Head Hotel. We stayed 3 nights and were amazed at his rudeness. At first I thought it was a comedy act but it quickly became apparent that this wasn't the case. The saving grace is that he's not there all the time, his other staff are much more what one would expect.

So if you loved the series and want to feel what it might have been like as a guest - go and enjoy the experience, if not avoid this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for the main house with views over the valley. Do not accept the garden block the walls are ver...

Had a weekend away in Lyme Regis and got a great room only deal at 49 pounds per night.

Room was clean the staff were very helpful and the hotel has good facilities including a library and wireless

You would need a car to get to it and it has good parking.

One night booked at very short notice and a bargain price through Booking.com. Despite that we were made to feel very welcome and my birthday was celebrated with a card and special decoration at the dinner table.
The location is superbly quiet with wide views and plenty of country walks close by and sea view walks a few miles away. Our room in the main building was spotless, well provided with assorted teas etc and an extremely comfortable VERY large bed. The bathroom (with bath) was also spotless and I'm glad to report that the paper bath mats (an attempt at environmental friendliness) are going soon. Soundproofing in the room was not too good, we clearly heard the comments of the children passing the door, but we were not disturbed during the night.
Service in the bar was good and in the restaurant perfect. The menu, choice of 4 starters, 4 mains and 4 deserts, was fine for a November Sunday night, although it bore little similarity to the sample on their website. Restaurant prices were reasonable and the food excellently cooked and presented, an example of less choice allowing freshly cooked better quality perhaps. Obviously a Chef of some quality in residence, not boil in the bag! The wine list was surprisingly extensive and again reasonably priced for the style and standard of the restaurant.
Because of an unusual requirement to reserve a table for breakfast the night before we didn't sample the breakfast.
The very smart lady receptionist, (one of the owners?) deserves special mention for friendliness, efficiency and a warm welcome.
