“Lovely house and great value in such a brilliant location - definitely coming back”
Reviewed 22 May 2016 for a stay in May 2016

A nicely decorated and well equipped house with good sized rooms, lots of lovely period features and wonderful views of the river to the front and rolling hills and sheep out the back. The owners said the kitchen was new and it certainly looked it. Nice to have all mod cons,(very efficient tumble drier in utility). I lloved the master bedroom (with en-suite) a big bed and fabulous views across the estuary to Appledore. My kids loved the smart TV and fast Wifi (also meant we could catch up on work when necessary). We enjoyed eating as a family in the dining room just off the kitchen. Next time we come the kids want a friend each, and there's room! Really enjoyed being practically on the Tarka Trail and so close to a wonderful deli/cafe and three pubs. The dog loved the beach. The local bus service is very regular and easy to use too. The house is really well placed with so much to do, even out of high season. All together a brilliant holiday in a great house. Thank you!

We're thrilled you had a brilliant family holiday at Redwing. We've spent some time over the spring refurbishing the house - the new kitchen really does make the space lovely and light and airy. It sounds like you had lots of fun and enjoyed all the things that Instow has to offer. It is great to hear such good feedback - thank you.

“Lovely and very comfortable cottage with great views.”
Reviewed 13 September 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We really enjoyed our stay at Red Wings. It is very comfortable with good quality sheets, towels, beds etc. There is a lovely raised terrace at the back which was great for coffee and lunch - we had lovely sunny weather and the terrace was very warm. Instow is very quaint and it was easy to walk to the beach, and restaurants. It is good for walking and cycling - we even managed to water ski. The views are lovely - would highly recommend!

“Well appointed property in quiet location”
Reviewed 16 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

Large comfortable terraced property in quiet location sleeping 7. The property and decor was in good condition, the kitchen was very well appointed, the dining room had a lovely large table to seat all of us and the lounge was very comfortable. The front of the house was immediately onto the road (no path to the front) which was not the easiest with small children or for bringing in the luggage but there was ample parking only a few metres away. The village of Instow is quiet with a good clean beach - an ideal location to explore North Devon.

Thanks very much for the review - we're glad you had a lovely time at Redwing. Just a note to our other guests - there is good access to Redwing from the parking layby (especially for young children and dogs) via a path that leads into the garden at the back of the house.

“Nice location - some concerns”
Reviewed 16 July 2014 for a stay in June 2014

The house was reasonable for the price, although the neighbours proved to be the biggest negative. Whenever in the garden he was playing loud music (apparently attempting to annoy my wife and myself) and spent a lot of time firing an air rifle down the length of the garden, even when I was walking past the back of the house to bring the luggage in.
The bed was a good size but the mattress was thin and cheap, not very comfortable.
The TV was unable to pick up all stations on freeview (but I think that is the reception in the area)
Instow, itself, proved to be a lovely quiet place to stay, ideal for my wife and myself taking time out.
Bideford hasn't changed much over the years, although the WIMPY "fast"food outlet has gone.

We are sorry to hear that there were a couple of issues during your stay at Redwing earlier this year but I'm glad you enjoyed your holiday in Instow.
I'm surprised by your comments but thank you for the feedback.
We usually hear that guests find the bed extremely comfortable. It is a sturdy Kingsize oak frame with an expensive, firm, thick mattress (I'm happy to send photos to any potential guests to confirm this). We find the cheaper mattresses are too soft and do not last very long.
Our SMART TV has the latest technology including Freeview and on demand capability through the unlimited WiFi. This was bought just before your stay in Spring 2014.
The neighbour is a well-liked and upstanding member of the local community. We have not had any complaints about him or his wife before.

“Perfect house in a great location”
Reviewed 26 March 2014 for a stay in June 2013

We had a wonderful time at Redwing. The house is very comfortable and well-equipped. We particularly appreciated the delightful goodie basket on our arrival, especially the wine!
Parking in the layby wasn't a problem for us but it was handy to have the yacht club parking pass in case we needed it.
Instow is an absolute delight and offers lots of lovely places to eat. John's Deli is a must - I wish I had one in my village! Everyone was very friendly in Instow and dogs are made very welcome. I will definitely be returning to stay at Redwing.

“Excellent location, well equipped and very comfortable.”
Reviewed 28 May 2012 for a stay in October 2011

This was our first time in Instow and we really enjoyed staying at Redwing. The house is well equipped, very comfortable and warm. It was also dog friendly! With the beach, general store, pubs and restaurants all within easy walking distance Redwings was an Ideal location in so many ways. The steep steps( sometimes quite slippery) up to the front door are not really suitable for people with restricted mobility . Located right on the busy main road also made loading & unloading the car a hazardous task with buses and cars travelling by quite fast. Car parking is really on a first come, first served basis in the bus lay by a short distance down the road. We were visiting in October and it was difficult to park some days. In the summer in may be near impossible. Once we found a parking spot outside we left the car and either walked or made use of the regular and efficient bus service.

We now have a private parking space solely for Redwing guests to use. This is located on private land off the layby next to the cottages (approx 10 metres). We also have a space in the yacht club (2 minute walk).
The steps at the front of the house are well maintained and well lit in the dark.
NB. The speed limit along the road is 30mph.
