Two nights in this most charming hotel with staff that should train all other hotel staff. Compliments to the chef for his menu and quality of dishes. I just wish we could have stayed longer. The owners have a very good eye with what works in decor for a quaint hotel. I just hope we can stay again. One more thing, The best most comfortable beds as well.

Warm, friendly and welcoming throughout our short stay. First night 'Taster Menu' excellent, well presented and good quality. Second night was a theme Tuesday and well worth trying out with pseudo authentic background music and the food to match. We enjoyed the Peruvian fare. Service great, room facilities and the cleanliness was outstanding. The ability to control the room temperature was a bonus after a long day out walking. Breakfast varied to suit almost any taste. The home made jams and marmalades were a lovely personal finishing touch, you can buy some of these delightful yet unusual flavours from reception to enjoy at a later date. We would definitely 'Recommend' this Hotel.

Room Tip: Presume they were all as good as the one we had. Recently redecorated and spotlessly clean.

Can't say enough good things about this hotel. Service exceptional, food and drink superb, multiple breakfast choices every day (but get the fry-up anyway!), room spacious, comfortable, well furnished. Will definitely stay again. Don't hesitate to have dinner here! The bus to and from Exeter St. Davids stops at the hotel's front door, for ease of non-drivers…but they have a car park as well.

lovely room with en-suite bath. Breakfast was great & evening meal superb. Only downside it was fairly cold weather & room wasn't warm enough. This was not a real problem as I had taken a hot water bottle with me!

Dear fayesnanna

Thanks for your review. We're glad you enjoyed (most) of your stay with us. we agree - we do serve a great breakfast and our evening meals are lovely too!

I'm sorry you found your room a little cold. You stayed so long ago I can't really comment on the individual situation or room, but apologise if you weren't 100% comfortable. As a very old building, that's Grade II Listed, we can sometimes struggle when it's VERY cold to keep some rooms cosy, using just the central heating. Thankfully it's rarely that cold here in Devon, but when it is we encourage guests to ask for extra heaters, which we have a good supply of.

Thanks again and hope to see you soon.

Recently had our Christmas party here and a group of us stayed at the hotel. Fantastic place and would definitely recommend a visit. We had a three course meal and the food was excellent and breakfast was amazing. All the staff were very attentive. All the rooms we had were spacious. comfortable and their standards are exceptionally high. Even though it is only 10/15 miles from home, I wouldn't hesitate in staying there again. Definitely recommend.

Room Tip: Churchill Room is great.

Lifton Hall Hotel is an architecturally pleasing building with adequate parking and easy access to the A30, Launceston and Tavistock. The entrance is through an old arched front door into the Reception hall which has a winding staircase and a high ceiling with a chandalier, it is very welcoming. To the right is a lovely light and sunny room with comfortable seating and tables where you can enjoy coffee, lunch, dinner or enjoy a drink sitting in the large bay window. The Bar is cosy with an open log fire in the Winter and always has lovely friendly staff to help you, The food is delicious, either from the Menu or from the Specials Board which changes daily. There is a large patio to while away sunny days. It is truly a gem that should not be missed. Say Hello to the owners Richard & Rob as they will be there to serve you.

Room Tip: I havn't stayed at the Hotel but I have seen the rooms and they are beautifully furnished with p...
