“Great Short Break”
Reviewed 18 June 2014

We stayed on a KGB deal for two nights, really friendly hotel, clean and tidy with great food the four course taster menu was lovely the second night we stayed was a themed night with tapas not my favourite however that's personal choice, breakfast was superb being fresh cooked to order really worth the wait even bought some of the homemade marmalade. The room was nicely furnished and comfortable although the road outside was a little noisy.

Room Tip: Maybe ask for a room not on the front so no road noise

We stayed 2 nights as part of a KGB deal, which included a 4 course taster dinner on the first night. The hotel staff are helpful and very welcoming and we had 2 lovely days. Dinner and breakfast were excellent, Our room was very comfortable and immaculate with a sofa and plenty of wardrobe and drawer space. There was a strange noise like a generator which was a bit disturbing early morning and when we mentioned it, were promised that it would be investigated, A very small complaint as the whole stay was excellent.

We spent 2 nights here as part of a KGB deal . It included a taster menu on the first night which was really good quality. The second night we joined in with the screening of a film with a fish and chip supper first. Despite it being a busy night (a lot of locals make this once a month occasion a firm date on their calender which only added to the atmosphere) the food was excellent.

The hotel is a building of age and character with interesting shaped windows. I asked for a king size bed and we were given the Darliston, a large room and very comfortable. However on staying another time I would probably ask for a room further from the road which was busy.

Breakfast was lovely. Cooked to order, none of your greasy standing in warmers for ages food that is so common in your non-descript, modern alternatives.

We most certainly would stay again and with pleasure.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the road.

My husband and I stayed at Lifton Hall Hotel for the second time in April. We were site seeing in Cornwall but decided to stay here in Devon as it was such good value for money . It was both homely and full of character and we had super rooms with lovely on -suites. The owners and all the staff were so helpful, nothing was too much trouble!
The food is excellent in both the restaurant and the bar. The breakfasts were to die for with all local produce used.
We fully recommend it and we will certainly be back again.

We stayed for three nights on a KGB deal and had a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
The hotel is full of character, spotless and nicely decorated throughout and has pleasant outdoor seating areas.
Our room, the Darliston, was large well equipped and comfortable with quality fixtures and fittings.
We found the staff from the owners down to the cleaner to be excellent and very friendly, they were all very professional and all took time to chat and make you feel a valued customer.
We had the taster menu on the first night as part of the deal and the food was excellent and an interesting choice.
On our second and third nights we ate in the hotel and the food was again of a high standard using quality ingredients. We were entitled to a free bottle of wine if we spent over £37.50 on food on our second and third nights, which we took advantage of. When we asked the waitress about this offer she was fully aware of it and immediately informed us of the choice of wines. This impressed us immensely as quite often we have found staff who haven't got a clue about the offers at their establishments, so top marks for this.
We had breakfast on all three mornings, the full English is superb and again of excellent quality.
There are other choices on the menu such as kippers that my wife had and these were also cooked to perfection and of good quality.
All in all we would thoroughly recommend the hotel and would have no hesitation in returning or recommending it to others......Shame it's so far away!!!

Room Tip: There is some road noise even though the hotel is located in a small village so ask for a room away...

Just back from a 2 night stay at the Lifton Hall Hotel. We were so impressed and found it to be stylish, comfortable but with so much character. The taster menu on our first night was sublime, clearly this hotel maintains high standards and knows how to impress. We felt like we received a 5 star service, the staff could not have been more friendly of attentive.

You won't be disappointed, well done to the Lifton Hall for a truly great trip..
