One of the great difficulties in life is to achieve excellence, then to maintain it through all seasons and time. Kate and Roger have done that with The Long Linhay - presentation, comfort, cleanliness, friendliness all top-notch. Add the outstandingly beautiful local scenery and walks; access to good food and drink - you'll want to return time after time. I do and have rebooked.
We have just returned from a fabulous week staying at the Long Linhay. What a wonderful cottage in a beautiful location. Mortehoe village is just a ten minute walk away where you will find two pubs, tearooms, fish and chip shop, village stores and a fascinating little local museum - well worth a visit. We were met at the cottage on arrival by Kate the owner, and she gave us plenty of info about the area and the cottage. Scones and flowers - such thoughtful and welcoming gifts - perfect start to our holiday! There are stunning coastal walks from the doorstep, sandy beaches at Woolacombe - you can leave the car behind. Just get your walking boots on and you're off! The cottage is so comfortable and well equipped. Decorated and furnished to such a high standard. The private patio area with garden furniture is a delight to return to after a day's walk and relax with a well earned glass of wine. We certainly hope to return to the Linhay - summer or winter. Best cottage and location we have been to. Five stars all round.
The Long Linhay is a beautiful cottage in a quiet location with lovely views of the sea and surrounding countryside, with easy access to Mortehoe and Woolacombe. Kate and Roger are excellent hosts and the cottage has lots of character with plenty of space and modern facilities. We had a very relaxing holiday and have booked to return again next year.
This is our second visit to the Long Linhay (the last time was in 2016) and we weren't disappointed!
Kate was there to greet us and ensure we had everything we needed. If we had any questions during our stay, e.g. knowing where the local cycle rides are or nearest chinese takeaway, she was willing and quick to help.
As usual, the accommodation was spotlessly clean and tidy, with all the necessary items we needed to make our stay brilliant.
Woolacombe beach and town is only a 45 minute walk downhill, but remember you need to go uphill to come back! The beach is massive (3 miles from Woolacombe to Putsborough), which we cycled when the tide was out. Great fun.
A fabulous holiday and we will be back again!
Lovely clean attractive converted barn style accommodation. Kate and Roger were perfect hosts providing everything we needed as well as complimentary cream tea ! There are also sun loungers and a large patio/garden.we would definitely recommend it to others. The location is great . Morthoe is a short distance away-a small village with pubs takeaways and a general store. It can be walked to. Also Woolacombe ,Coombe Martin, Croyde and Ilfracombe beaches are a short drive away. Ilfracombe is lovely. We also went to Coombe Martin wildlife and dinosaur park without children!! :D
Long Linhay is a gem of a cottage located in Mortehoe and just a short walk to the village centre.
The cottage was spotlessly clean with everything you need for a home from home break. We were met with a very warm welcome by Kate along with a homemade cream tea - delicious.
The views are great and the enclosed patio is completely private and a fabulous sun trap enabling a sunny (weather permitting) breakfast to leisurely dinner to be eaten outdoors.
Mortehoe has 2 pubs, a fish & chip shop and The Rockleigh which provides true home cooked meals to take away which are really tasty and not expensive.
Woolacombe is a short drive from the cottage with its fabulous beach - can also walk but would recommend the bus back due to the steep walk back!
Highly recommend Long Linhay and will be returning!
Last week we visited the Long Linhay for a weeks stay on the beautiful North Devon coast. We first found this property via Tripadvisor and decided to stay because of such positive reviews, which were absolutely correct. The Long Linhay was by far the best property we have ever stayed in throughout all the years visiting Devon with everything we would need for our stay. Lovely host Kate met us on arrival and showed us around the property which was as described, a very high standard, pristine condition and we looked forward to a very comfortable week. Mortehoe is a beautiful village with great access to the coastal paths and lovely beaches, 2 pubs, tea rooms and a very good fish and chip shop. We will definitely return if we are in the area. Hosts Roger and Kate's attention to detail is second to none (including the delicious cream tea and scones on arrival). Thank you both for such a lovely week at The Long Linhay
