“Top place to see the new year in!”
Reviewed 20 January 2017 for a stay in December 2016

3 Families, 15 people in total, had a proper new year in these two adjoining properties. Kitchen big enough for us all to have a big ol' fry up every morning, and living rooms large enough on a evening. Two cracking little pubs in the village and a beautiful beach on the doorstep.
Happy New Year!

“A fantastic holiday in Mortehoe”
Reviewed 5 November 2016 for a stay in October 2016

We (a group of 5 families, 19 of us in all) stayed at the Cresent for a half term get together. The houses were spacious, comfortable and well equipped. They provided a great base to enjoy Motehoe, which is charming, Woolacoombe (with an amazing beach) and the surrounding area of North Devon.

Dominic was extremely helpful with booking and his attention to detail was excellent.

We normally try to stay in one house but this was no issue at all as the houses have adjoining back doors and gave the children (aged 4 to 16) more places to go.

I would thoroughly recommend both The Cresent and Mortehoe.

“Great Holiday Retreat”
Reviewed 13 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We stayed in both the Buttery and Cromlech ( together the Crescent) and it accommodated our large family group ( 7 months to grandparents) in bright airy rooms, well appointed in both houses. Rear and front galleries to the properties added an extra little sun time for the non-active. There is no garden area which is fine if you get the good weather but could be a drawback otherwise. The houses were roomy and well equipped in terms of kitchen, and utility rooms. Access between the two by the rear was easy and the main dining in the Buttery accommodated us all for meals in the evening. The whole place allowed for time together and private time as people wanted it. The village of Mortehoe is a delightful place and base with a little bit of everything in terms of meeting needs, post office, shops, national trust property, pubs with the Chichester Arms being excellent to drop in or eat as we did. The towns of Ifracombe and Woolacombe are easily accessible. Parking for tow cars right outside the property is very tight but workable and extra spaces can be obtained through the owners. On that level Dominic is very attentive to his clients. Nothing was too much trouble and any questions were answered by email promptly and efficiently. There is plenty of information in the house in the pack to give you some sense of the whole place too. Good surfing, good beach-combing, good walks, good souvenir shopping, good holiday. Really pleased with the whole experience.

“Beautiful location, wonderful walking and beaches”
Reviewed 28 June 2016 for a stay in June 2016

The Crescent provides a brilliant space for a large group. It is well equipped and really sensibly designed so you don't all have to be in the same area at the same time. It is important to note that there isn't a garden, but with the beach so close this wasn't a problem for us. If you are a group of 18 you would find sitting at a table in one kitchen a squash.
Mortehoe is a lovely village with a great local shop, pubs and takeaways so you really don't need to get in your car once you arrive. There are lovely, small beaches within 10 minutes walk and the brilliant Woolacombe beach is only 15/20 minutes walk away.
If walking, there are lovely walks which include going around Morte Point where we spotted seals!

Hi Abigail, great to hear about your weekend. Yes 18 people all dining simultaneously is the limit for chair space and elbow room. Seating up to 14 people or up to 10 people allows a less invasive table configurations. Glad you were able to find all the fun you needed without driving around! :) Dom

“Fantastic for big groups who love being by the sea”
Reviewed 17 June 2016 for a stay in June 2016

We had an absolutely brilliant stay at the Crescent. It was great, family friendly, accommodation for a big group, with really nice extra touches like lots of games and books, places to hang the wetsuits and body boards to use. Dominic the owner couldn't have been more helpful, and provided lots of information in advance of our stay. It was only a short (although slightly hilly!) walk down to Woolacombe beach to enjoy the sand and surf and there were lots of lovely things right on the doorstep too - pub, deli, delicious fish and chips! Would highly recommend.

“Fantastically appointed houses in a lovely village in a great part of the world.”
Reviewed 29 March 2016 for a stay in March 2016

We rented both houses for a 50th birthday party and had 17 staying.
Firstly the communication from Dom in securing the booking was excellent. There is plenty of excellent information on the website but Dom was also very good at sending / reminding us the pertinent bits - like where to park when we arrived, how to gain access, what was where and so on - at timely intervals.
The houses themselves are very well designed and renovated to a high but practical standard. There are some lovely features & architectural indulgences here, but that does not detract from the fact that both houses are fully functional and you didn't feel like you were in a gallery, afraid to touch things. Boogie boards to borrow out the back were a lovely touch.
Its a great location for access to both the beach & dog walking areas. I highly recommend a stroll to Morte Point for the views of the bay. The village and pub opposite are delightful too. 1 minor downside was that although the dining table in the Buttery is large, we werent able to have all 17 sitting down to the 50th dinner together, managing probably 13, but that was a minor issue, and doubt many groups would want to do this anyway.

Overall a very good weekend break. Highly recommended and we will be coming back.

“Fantastic accommodation, great location, well equipped house with all you need.”
Reviewed 3 February 2016 for a stay in January 2016

Loved my first visit to The Crescent. The houses are well located and a short distance to the beach & coastal walk. A nice design and well equipped with somewhere to dry wetsuits, good games e.t.c. and large kitchen tables for that well-earned post surf feast!
