“Amazing Location, with cosy cottage”
Reviewed 4 October 2016 for a stay in September 2016

Lovely cottage in beautiful area of outstanding beauty. Warm and clean with wonderful woodburning stove to keep you warm. Comfortable bed and plenty of room. Would definitely love to come again.

“Good Value For Money In A Beautiful Village”

There were a couple of not so good points with this cottage which were disappointing so lets get them out of the way first; the double bed is not very comfortable and some of the linen whilst clean and freshly laundered had a few stains - perhaps time to replace them! The good points however were numerous, out balanced the bad and I'll cover some of them here. A welcome pack of scones, local jam and clotted cream were a delight after the 200 mile journey here. A beautiful garden surrounds the property with plenty of off road parking and Wykeham Cottage has it's own garden with picnic bench too. The log burner was a welcomed feature on the cooler evenings with a generous supply of logs to keep you warm and comfortable. There's plenty of space in the cottage and the layout has been well thought through. This is the lesser of the three properties on the site and next time we might book the Mailscot Cottage if it's available mainly for the views of the back garden which Wykeham doesn't have. We would stay again. The location is superb with the Post Office, Village Stores and Ship Aground Pub & Restaurant all within a couple of minutes walk. There'a also a popular chip shop, a takeaway and tea rooms in the village which we didn't get to go to. It's a few minutes walk from the coastal path and a great base from which to explore the local countryside. If it's 5 star accommodation you want look elsewhere but if you want 3-4star at 3 star prices look no further.

Thank you for this review, very useful feedback. We always endeavour to check linen is fully clean and stain-free before it goes on, so apologies for missing this. We will also be checking mattresses and replacing any that are uncomfortable or in need of replacing. Glad you had a nice break otherwise and look forward to welcoming you back in future.

“Lovely welcoming, charming cottage.”
Reviewed 25 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

It was a lovely charming cottage with some personal touches on arrival such as fresh flowers, logs stocked and scones, clotted cream and local jam. The garden area for Wykeham was lovely to sit in and have breakfast and read the papers. Perfectly located in Mortehoe between the different local shops and pubs. Do visit Miss Fea's Café!

“Great location for walking the coast”

Overall, very good. The cottage is a little bigger than it looks in the photos and the kitchen was a good size. Comfortable as well for a couple or a small family. Is part of a larger house and there with teenagers next-door so we were worried there would be noise, but we never heard them through the thick walls. We were within 30 minutes drive of some spectacular walks so it was a good base. The only disappointment was the lack of common kitchen items such as salt and pepper and matches for the fireplace. Otherwise, well worth it.
