We had been looking forward to our 3 night stay in Smugglers Cottage at Potters Mooring after reading all the complimentary reviews. But you do need to experience a place for yourself before you can pass judgement.

Ok the accommodation first, warm, cosy, very clean and everything you could need even down to a jug of fresh milk in the fridge. The shower room looked as if it had been recently refurbished and was spotless.

The breakfasts as have been commented on before are superb, there is plenty of choice and nothing is too much trouble.

The beach/front is merely a matter of steps away from Potters Mooring and there is plenty to see and do. For eating out we would recommend the Clipper Café over The Ness any day.

Obviously a lot of thought has gone into Potters Mooring and it has worked, we were there on a 3 day deal but will definitely be back and could not recommend it highly enough.

Room Tip: Smugglers Cottage has the best of both worlds, detached from main hotel but close enough for the wal...

stayed here 4 nights and had a very peaceful restful break.the room and shower room was tastefully decorated. I did miss not having a bath and a chair to relax in. Breakfast was beautifully cooked and a wide choice for even the fussiest eaters. the staff were all very good and Lin was like an old friend and made us most welcome. parking was in the front of the hotel at a squeeze. The beach was nearby and the ferry to Teignmouth so the car was not needed around Shaldon. Warning.. the inns only do Sunday lunches so teatime on a sunday is left to one cafe to provide for all. Beautiful village with friendly people.

We so enjoyed our weekend at Potters Mooring Guest House. The location is like stepping back in time with the outlook on to a village bowling green & at the rear the Teign estuary. Totally unspoilt village & the accomodation was second to none, spotless room, wonderful breakfast, would thoroughly recommend & we will be returning without doubt. The pub next door we would also recommend, the evening meals were good value for money. All in all a very memorable weekend.

We visited South Devon in early April, to look for a quiet place to spend our pending retirement and decided on Potters Mooring because it was in Shaldon; a village recommended by a number of our friends. What a lucky find, Tony and Lin were absolutely wonderful hosts and they and their young staff made ours and our dog's stay, in a very cozy courtyard room, Wonderful! Fabulous breakfasts to start the day's house hunting, a pub next door for evening meals with 'good beer' and some of the friendliest locals we have ever met. We have already committed to a return visit in September. So we'll see you again soon.

Stayed here for 3 nights at smugglers cottage wish we could have stayed longer. Accommodation very clean and cosy, excellent choice of tea/coffee facilities. Staff very friendly and attentive, just couldn't do enough for you. Great location to use as a base for sightseeing. Very good choice at breakfast and extremely well cooked, was constantly asked if we required any more drink or toast. Very impressed that they provided gluten free products. Bob and Linda made us feel at home. Would love to stay again in future.

Not a bad b&b. Booked 2 nights in April. First night extractor fan was on all night which spoiled our nights sleep, We did have a word the following morning and the extractor fan was turned off, but no discount offered for bad nights sleep !! Breakfast ok, went for the smoked haddock which had good reviews, but my haddock was overcooked and rubbery. Sent half back and noticed that another customer also did not finish either. Small complaints but at 95.00 per night this is not a cheap b&b. Hilton in Cardiff cheaper at moment !!! Room nice and big so no problems there.
Lovely position in Shaldon and had a meal next door in the London Inn, very good too!!!
