Nigel and Alison are so enthusiastic about welcoming guests to their home that nothing is too much trouble for them to make your stay enjoyable. They genuinely enjoy their visitors and we were greeted with tea and biscuits in the garden on arrival and met by Yogi the spaniel. They have two guest rooms, one upstairs with excellent views across the estuary to Teignmouth and the other down a spiral staircase, which has the view, a large bathroom and a separate sitting area adjacent to the bedroom. The rooms are clean and comfortable and there was an excellent and generous cooked breakfast as well as a fresh fruit cocktail and a toaster so that you could help yourself to hot toast when you wanted it. Although parking could have been a problem in the narrow lanes, there is room for two cars in the drive and Nigel arranges his own cars in the road outside to ensure guests can park there if required. There is a good choice of pubs and restaurants nearby only a short walk down a gradual slope. I would not hesitate to recommend Caledon to anyone staying in Shaldon.

Room Tip: I would recommend the room upstairs for the views.

From the warm welcome (cup of tea and very useful information about the local area included), to the update on traffic conditions on our route home, everything was perfect. Nigel and Ali are superb hosts who did everything in their power to make our stay with them a delightful experience.
The rooms are large, bright, clean and airy, with fabulous views. The location is ideal. Breakfasts were a real treat.Thoroughly recommended.

Perfect weekend break, super hosts very kind and helpful. Greeted with a smile and enjoyed cup of tea with them outside.

Very good breakfast, set's you up for the day. Spectacular views from the upstairs rooms and Yogi the dog is great.

If visiting the area book Caledon B & B

Hope to stay again. James & Helen

We have stayed at Caledon twice now, once during the storms in February and just recently in better spring weather in April. On both occasions we have very much enjoyed our stay. The room is at the top of the house with fantastic views out over the estuary. As the house is on the first terrace of raised ground above Shaldon you also have interesting views of the quaint village and tiny lanes (that may or may not qualify as a road!). On the last trip we spotted a thatcher working on a new cottage roof, and that the number of surprisingly large ships on the quay was increasing yet we never spotted one come in! The room itself is spotless with a very comfy bed, main estuary window and a Velux style to the front of the property, sofa, tea/coffee and biscuits and TV. The internet worked well.
Breakfast timings were flexible for our relaxed starts to the day with an ample selection of fruits cereals and full English available.
An easy downhill stroll leads down to the waters edge and pubs and cafes so it was very convenient. Furthermore, Caledon has (some) off street parking suitable for a large estate car for which we were very appreciative given the narrow lanes and lack of spaces in most of the village.
We would like to thank Nigel and Alison for creating such a nice place to unwind and for being flexible after the storms disrupted our travel plans.

We stayed over the August bank holiday weekend and had a wonderful time - we didn't want to leave! Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts Alison and Nigel. They were extremely welcoming and made us feel at home.

We stayed in a spacious, light and airy double room with spectacular sea views. The room was newly furnished and very clean with the usual amenities provided; hairdryer, towels, tea, coffee and fresh milk etc. Extra touches had also been included such interesting books on the history of Shaldon and related DVDs. The en-suite shower and toilet were spotless and provided a nice selection of toiletries. The bed was really comfortable and cosy.

Breakfast was super - a great selection of treats and eats and everything was freshly cooked.

Caledon is ideally located with a short 5-10 min walk to the seafront where there are plenty of independent shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs. It is a great place to stay and relax.

We hope to stay at Caledon again and fully recommend Alison and Nigel's hospitality. Thank you for a lovely break!
