“Fantastic holiday.”
Reviewed 14 April 2012

This site now has new management. They are currently still improving and updating. We have been coming here a few years and stay on the chalet at the front overlooking the sea. Wonderful views. Swimming pool looks out over the sea too. This site is goin to be great when the changes are done. We can't wait to come back. Great for the kids.

Just returned from Coast View Holiday Park on Saturday 7th April, having stayed a week in a 3 bed chalet, named Seahorse? Not sure why these chalets are given silly names - A, B, C etc is simpler.
This was our first visit to Coast View, booked last minute so we have no previous opinion of the previous owners efforts. We were pleasantly surprised with the accomodation and the sea views watching the sunrise from our balcony was a great uplifting experience. The swimming pool was adequete, pity their were'nt any mattresses to go on the sunbeds around the pool though. The clubhouse was very nice and a great improvement on the building site we saw 2 weeks earlier (we came for a quick peek but there was a refit in progress.) The comments by the earlier reviewer regarding the basic seating and cheap looking plastic table and chairs we valid and dissappointing. However, the staff were brilliant and did their best to be helpful. The club Manageress did explain that the owner had been let down by his furniture supplier and the table and chairs were a last minute substitute. Had I arrived a little later in the season, I probably would see a more comfortable seating arrangements.

If you decide to come in the early or late season, I do recommend upgrading to 3 bed chalet. As a family of 4 we did not really need 3 bedrooms. However, the extra space was a bonus and you get a bigger balcony, bigger living space and central heating (which we needed in the cold nights.) If the new management can afford it, possibly a rethink on the dishwasher (which we used once,) to be replaced by a washing machine which is much more practical.
Overall, we had a great time and enjoyed days out at Paignton Zoo, The Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway, nearby Teignmouth and beautiful Dawlish. On the one drab day, a shopping and fun park day was had at nearby Trago Mills, Stover near Newton Abbot.

If asked, we would definitely consider coming back again.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review, Great to hear you had a good week with us at Coast View and that you were pleased with the chalet you upgraded to. Your stay with us was the first week of season under new ownership and despite being let down by a couple of suppliers, we had a great start to the season. We have received encouraging and constructive feedback such as your own for which we are grateful. We are committed to our long term plans and developments and really look forward to you coming back to us in the future so you can experience these exciting changes. With kind regards, The Coast View Team.

Now this is the holiday park that was featured on TV a few years ago, so when I heard it was sold to new owners, and they were investing a LOT in it... I had to have a look (I'm nosy like that!!)

So, I called over to Coast View a few weeks ago, and on the strength of what I saw we booked a chalet for our friends and their family, so we could all spend Easter together. This weekend we've spent a lot of time at the park, with our friends and it's brilliant! What a transformation!!!

The old club house is now a lovely family bistro cafe-bar, and I tell you it looks great! It's been completely revamped and it's a fantastic place to take the family.

The whole park looks very fresh and welcoming, and when we had a look round our friends' chalets, they are really very comfortable and have everything you could need.

Just like before, the views are amazing and it's simply a lovely place to holiday. Our friends are delighted - which is a really good job as we booked them in ;-) Good choice all round. Excellent facilities, our kids have been able to play together, with the pool coming in very handy when the sun's gone in.

Friendly staff, clean and fresh accommodation, and all you could want from a lovely Devon holiday park.

I'm also more than happy to recommend it to friends and family who come to visit us here in Devon, I know they are going to love it!

Been coming 6 yrs and loved it every time. Fantastic spot with amazing views but now under new owners. Why did they take out the cosy club and put in a plastic cafe? Had a nice meal but had to top up with a chinese take away. Kids really wanted to see Daffodil the pony and the rabbits but not allowed any more. Had some great weather which made for some great days out, lots to do in the area. Very disappointed with site, won't be
coming back.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are very pleased to hear that you had a nice meal at ‘The View’ our newly refurbished café-bar . This new facility is hugely popular with our guests and owners and offers a fantastic menu of locally-sourced produce. The family fun nights and cabaret evenings are going down really well too. Sorry to hear the kids were disappointed about not being able to see the animals – the animals belong to the previous owners, that is their private land and no longer part of the Park. Good to hear you have had some great days out in the sunshine– you are right, there is lots to do in the area whatever the weather and we are in a great location. We hope to welcome you back to Coast View again in the future.

We camped here last August bank holiday, in the top field, with beautiful views of the sea, we had a lovely time and were looking forward to returning this year.
Of course as we were in the top field it was a long way down the hill to the toilet and shower blocks, and a long climp back up to the tent, but was worth it for the views.
We had no electric hook up. Just a field. You choose where to put your tent up, 1st come 1st served so to speak. We thought price was ok for bank hol w/e
It is under new ownership this year and we have just recieved the brochure with this years with camping tarrifs.
We sadly, will not be going again and we were so looking forward to returning.

To camp for 1 night in low season is £25
To camp mid mid season? £28
Mid season £30
High season £35
This is for 1 night, then the add on starts
£3 for extra people per person per night, £3 per night for trailors, £3 per car per night, £3 gazebo per night
Realistically we could go away mid aseason for 2 nights with 2 friends, no electric, no near shower blocks for £94, never worth it. So sorry.

Room Tip: Choose top field for good views

Thank you for your review and we are so pleased you had such a good time at Coast View last summer. We are now under new ownership and working on lots of exciting changes, so the 'new' Coast View experience will, we think, even better than before! There appears to have been a misunderstanding as we have infact held our touring and camping prices for the coming season and they are exactly the same as last year. All our pitch rates are inclusive of up to 5 people and one vehicle. We look forward to welcoming you again this summer, from all the team at Coast View

I have holidayed in this area for over 30 years and have seen, but have never stayed at Coast View until October 2010.
I know it has recently changed ownership but wanted to place a review for everyone on here. The site has some of the best views of any in South Devon and the site is located on a steep hill above Shaldon, on the main A379 between Torquay and Exeter (via Shaldon Bridge which has some great views and was once the longest in England).
We had a Marlin Chalet which has more than enough space for the two of us and it had 2 big bedrooms, 1 double and 1 single and bunk, a spacious lounge/diner and a kitchen with all you need. The lounge was nice and airy and had brilliant views over to Lyme Bay.
The site is very well kept and has a club, restaurant and pool (although ran out of time to use) and a small pets corner, with animals for children to pet and is near to Shaldon village which is lovely and has good pubs (clifford arms, ferryboat) and a good chip shop and butchers!
The site is not good for the disabled as it is on a steep hill and you keep climbing into the site and footpaths into the site are limited if you walk to Shaldon, so be careful of the traffic and the entrance although well signposted comes up quick after a bend and be careful of fast traffic going on the A379.
I would reccomend the site for the brilliant views and because the village of Shaldon is lovely and the location is great between Torquay and Exeter on my favourite coast of England where there are loads of attractions whatever the weather.

Room Tip: The chalets have a better view of the sea in the summer and especially the ones higher up the hillsi...

The facilities that we used were not only great but also free. Lorna and Stu were great with the children and managed to keep them very happy and entertained every evening.
We were staying in our touring caravan and were very disappointed with the pitch (altough the views were lovely). The enterance to the 'Triangle' area was very narrow and the 'hardstanding' pitches were far from that. 2 strips of concrete isn't hardstanding! Our pitch was at the end which was just as well as it wasn't big enough for our caravan and out hitch was sticking out. The lack of drainage meant we were unable to put our awning up. I kow the weather was awful but I wouldn't expect it to be that flooded and muddy.

If they improved the pitches then we would go there again.
