Nigel is engaging, informative, helpful and thoughtfully educational and entertaining. We were a group of four variably experienced visitors who all equally enjoyed introductory hour. We will, individually and collectively be back for more. Thank you+++.

Thank you for your kind comments and I'm glad you all enjoyed your time with the birds.

Everyone gets something different out of the experience and it's important for people in my position to remember that. By keeping to small groups of family or friends I can ensure that the customers get the most out of their close encounter with Lady Macbeth and Cassius.

Regards,

“Don't miss this opportunity!”
Reviewed 4 August 2014

Have just returned from a trip up on Exmoor with Nigel Penfold.
We were given a great afternoon with a very knowledgable falconer and his birds Cassius and Lady Macbeth.
Thorough explanations of the birds and how to handle them took away any fear and we were just left to marvel at these amazing birds .
Plenty of handling and displays make this a trip not to be missed
Highly recommended.

Thank you Susan.

We fly in a beautiful area which really enhances the experience. That and the fact that it's all so "hands on", makes it all the more absorbing.

Glad you liked it. "Hands on " is what it is all about. Lots of places let you watch members of staff fly the birds, but we are one of the few places that say " Here's a glove, here's a hawk, let's get on with it".

“Amazing!”
Reviewed 3 August 2014

We met Nigel at the tearooms in Withypool, a lovely little Exmoor village and then followed him in our car for 5 minutes up to a small parking area on the moors. We were introduced to Cassius, a small male Harris Hawk and given a short introduction to this type of bird and how to hand them. Then we were off onto the moor and before we knew it, the bird was flying between us. It was amazing to have this wonderful bird flying between our gloved hands, across and up and down the hill and he was quite comical when one time he decided it was easier to run across the ground, with his bell jangling, instead of flying! After a while, Cassius was returned and then met and flew Lady McBeth, the larger female. Nigel has a fantastic knowledge about these birds and although my daughter wasn’t too sure about flying them, with Nigel’s instruction she happily took part. At the end Nigel was going to exercise his new bird that he is training and he welcomed us to stay and watch. It is not always easy to find things to do with teenagers on holiday but mine thoroughly enjoyed this experience. Thoroughly recommended!

Thank you for your comments and I'm glad everyone enjoyed themselves. Kids usually react very well to the birds because there is always some angle about them they find interesting. It might be their hunting techniques, how they've evolved the way they have, or just the pleasure of feeling the bird swoop in from 50 yards away to land on their fist.

“Fabulous Experience”
Reviewed 19 July 2014

We've just been out flying a Harris hawk called Lady Macbeth with the lovely and very knowledgeable Nigel Penfold.
We (my husband our 14 year daughter and her friend) all enjoyed being able to be so close to such a beautiful bird and to learn all sorts of fascinating facts about the lives of hawks.
This was a great experience and I would recommend it to anyone.
Extremely good value for money. Great cakes, if required, to be found at the Withypool Tea Room, before or after your trip.
Thank you very much Nigel.

Thank you for your kind comments, I'm glad you all enjoyed the outing, Your daughter certainly looked like a natural falconer and didn't flinch when Lady M came swooping into her.

Hope the other young lady has recovered from the hay fever.

The birds have been out flying again today and are now on perches in the garden splashing about in their individual bird baths, cooling down. Lady M in particular loves having the garden hose played on her and I always get bored before she does. The record so far is 20 minutes of me holding the hose and squirting her . I think she may have a bit of penquin blood in her.

Regards,
