We have watched the progress of constant improvement over the years; To it's present status as "Large Hotel Of The Year". There is a wide range of prices for rooms reflecting their features, so specify with care when booking. Leisure and sports activities are first class with maturing gardens. From good "british seaside" in our early days, the resteraunt now offers a first class culinary expirience in line with modern tastes.
We will be back.

Our 4th visit to Thurlestone Hotel, and always an excellent holidaqy.
Our sea facing suite could not be faulted, great facilities including Wi Fi, which the staff very kindly helped me with as I am 'useless' with computers.
The whole hotel is spotlessy clean and all the staff, from reception, restaurant, cleaners, porters are extremely polite and helpful at all times.
Value wise the out of season bargains are unbelievable, the 4 course evening meal is a real treat and a great way to end the day.
The golf course ,indoor pool and snooker room are another great bonus

Just returned from a wet and windy four days at the Thurlestone . Prior to our visit this hotel had been recommended by a number of friends . One tip do not use your sat nav to find it try the old method of a map . The hotel is well situated and it is a comfortable walk to the cliff path from which the views are special . I agree with previous comments the hotel is not particularly attractive and the back of the hotel is a mess. Sea facing rooms do have a good view even when its raining .Service is pleasant but can be slow in the bar pre dinner . Rooms are tidy with modern bathrooms but one or two minor niggles . Food can be slightly strange in its combination of flavours but in general is of good quality

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night break. The staff were very welcoming, the beds were blissful, the views were beautiful and the food was of a very high standard. Also we had excellent massages and enjoyed the indoor pool and jacuzzi.

This was a very special time for us - our 50th wedding anniversary to be spent with the people most dear to us - our 2 daughters, their husbands & 4 very precious grandchildren. Thurlestone had been recommended by 2 friends who had spent 3 holidays there, one of them with their family for a 70th birthday. Of course they were concerned that it didn't match our expectations - its a bit tricky to recommend in case it disappoints - but they need not have worried. Thurlestone will live on in our memories as one of the best times we have ever had. Its a fabulous place - ok, maybe the outside of the building isn't that beautiful - but just look at that setting! Add to that the care of the staff, for whom nothing seemed to be too much trouble, and the great food and extra amenities on site and you have, in our opinion, the whole picture.

We were recommended to this hotel and its location is excellent although the beach is more than a five minute walk away. We had a very good sized room, superior sea view overlooking the bay. We found that the staff were very friendly and helpful. There were just a few niggles. The top of the fridge cupboard had only been dusted around the hamper of packets of drinks and I found a cloud of dust when I moved the hamper. The gunge around the bath taps could have been attended to. You pay quite a hefty supplement for these rooms and yes the bedding and towels were changed everyday and the bed was very comfy but I didn't expect to see torn wallpaper.
As our room was opposite the laundry room we did hear quite a lot of chatter and laughter from the staff outside of our door. Nice to know the staff are happy at work but at times it was intrusive or perhaps the hotel needs bettter soundproofing.
Overall we were very happy with the choice and quality of the meals and would return for that alone. The pub next door was a disappointment. Very high prices for a pub meal but this is the Salcombe area where prices are above average.

This long established family owned hotel is situated in an ideal location with stunning views out to sea. Our room with balcony had been refurbished to a very high standard. The quality of food and service in the restaurant were excellent. The staff are friendly, courteous and efficient .
