Description: The 16th Century Village Inn, complete with beams salvaged from Spanish Armada ships wrecked on the nearby coast, is a popular free house owned by the Grose family for more than a century and is where they first offered hospitality to visitors. Recently extendEd and refurbished, it incorporates stylish modern décor with traditional influences and whether sat outside in the sunshine or inside by the cosy log burner it is a relaxed venue to enjoy a real ale or glass of wine and something to eat. Scott Woodall and his team make The Village Inn popular with guests and locals alike and it is a favoured stop off for walkers on the South West Coastal Footpath. The menu offers freshly prepared meals, signature dishes and daily blackboard specials. There is live entertainment throughout the year. Children and Dogs are very welcome.

This pub is part of the Thurlestone Hotel. It is an attractive old pub with seating outside to the front and a rustic feel inside. It has a smallish but varied menu of good quality food. The pink carved beef salad was very good - as were the sardines and smoked chicken starters . Friendly efficient staff made for a relaxing evening

We were a pre booked large party. All were served as close as it was possible to do at the same time

A Saturday evening meal with friends, my first visit and we were impressed with the food and ambience. We all had something different and agreed it was all very good. My fillet of Hake with delicious range of beautifully cooked vegetables was very tasty, as were the steaks and moules. Desserts was also delicious. Waitress very friendly and extremely helpful.

Although the Roast was well cooked and the vegetables looked great, there was a major problem...

Portion Size! A pair of French Beans and ONE Mange Tout does not fill up a couple that had been taking in the air on the beach! We aren't fatties btw (and we mentioned it to both the waiter AND waitress - all they said was that they would mention it to the Chef. Well thanks for that) £14 for basically a starter didn't make us want to return.

Just had a Friday evening meal that benefited from the full experience of the recent refit, new staff team and reduced range menu. Have eaten at the Village Inn for years - but tonight’s experience confirms its transition into an efficient money making machine, interested in a high volume of covers rather than people, atmosphere or experience. Tables were sticky, the menu uninspired (other than the ridiculous prices charged) and the noise in the restaurant unbearable. When we moved to a quieter area in the lounge no one on the staff was concerned or bothered enough to serve us anymore. Simply settled up at the bar and left - they didn’t even give us the courtesy of asking if our meal had been ok. Won’t be rushing back even though we holiday in Thurlestone 4 or 5 times a year.
