After a hard days cycling, as my wife and I were cycling from Lands End to John O'Groats, we arrived very wet at The Mill. It was in the most beautiful setting away from the buzz of urban life and we could not have been more warmly welcomed by Roger and Liz. Nothing was too much trouble, they made us a warm pot of tea and a poughmans with all fresh ingredients, Roger even got us to try some traditional Devonshire junket. The breakfast was excellent and they even flexed the time for us so we could get away again on the bikes.

A perfect homely stay with the nicest of people. Having read some of the other reviews I feel they are harsh, the rooms aren't modern or have luxury beds, but it depends what you want. if you want to escape to the beautiful Devonshire countryside, stay in a place that feels like home from home and recieve great service then this is suitable for you.

very difficult to write this review as I suppose people have very different views on decor. It would suit mature people much better than younger folk..
Positives..
.friendly
.relaxed
.beautiful location
.quiet
.beautiful wood features

but..
decor is very dated..and definitely needs updating

Room Tip: Fine as a get away and if you're mature

We booked the whole place for a wedding with 9 adults and 2 children staying - then over 30 for a lunchtime meal.
The owners (Roger and Liz) and their family really made it special and really are the nicest people you could ever wish to meet. Nothing was no much trouble for them.
The surroundings of this farm B and B are beautiful and really give you time to reflect on what life is about.
Bedrooms light and airey, dinning room gives chance to gaze at those surroundings of the River Ex and possibly a kingfisher among other wildlife. On top of this there is a sunroom and lounge area to also relax.
I noticed that other comments say about it being dated....ok so it is not Ikea trendy, but it is homely and comfortable and this is a working farm and would cream sofa's really be fitting. Only thing I would say is dated is some of Rogers jokes!!
Great place and lovely people.

Our welcome to the Mill was warm and encouraging. However, once inside the premises it was clear that the property suffered from a look that would horrorify most. The rooms were dark, the furniture was old and worn and look liked it had been salvaged form someones Grans bungalow. The ;in room' tea and coffee facilities were minimalist and would only suit those who prefer a cuppa ' eau naturel' ,without milk as none was provided.

All in all, would we return? Probably not, unless the place had a major refurb. NIce people though!

Positives first...
(1) This is probably the friendliest place that we have ever stayed at, with the loveliest hosts you could meet.
(2) It is in a lovely setting

But...
However, we would not describe the accommodation as 'quality' at all - more, dark and eerie, with fixtures and fittings that are in desperate need of updating.
It was so dreary and depressing we left early.

Instead of staying here, try...
Town Mills B&B in Dulverton was only £9 more and is well worth the stay - a completely different league (bright, fresh and luxurious feel) for only a little more.

Sorry, I hate giving a bad review, but we always give credit where it is due.
