We booked a last minute 4 day stay 17-21 June due to our summer holiday being cancelled from the air strikes in France we have been coming here & Woolacombe Bay for 10 years so when we were looking for a UK break we didnt even hesitate to book and did not look anywhere else!

We booked the best caravan we could for last minute Bronze with decking sleeping the four of us and our 5 month old Doberman puppy- we were in C35 and it was perfect we got the sun most of the day and had a lovely view.

The caravan was and smelt clean the only downside is the grill wasnt working but maintenance came and fixed it while we were out but did leave their mess to clear up the only other small issue was there were no towel/clothes hooks in the shower room.

Being happy-go-lucky people we were up for a laugh and seeing as it was my parents 31st wedding anniversary as well we would have been happy to have spent hundreds on drink, food, you name it! However on the first night coming in to the club house and seeing everyone sat down with 70's 80's music on even my 50 year old parents wanted something a bit more "modern" so as we have done before we popped over to the DJ booth for our requests of Wurzels (guess where we are from) and chart music. Well.. you would have thought we would have asked Ricky to run a marathon with his pants on his head- his response " I am head of entertainment and I am playing to my audience" when me and my mum pointed out no one was up dancing and we would dance if we had some more upbeat music he refused and when we walked back we asked a family if they would like the music that we requested and they were really wanting our requests to be played! Reluctantly Ricky put some newer music on and then shouted over the microhone (aimed at my mum) "there is always one gobby one isn't there!" so my mum went over and questioned why he was being so rude and he called Andy of security to escourt her out of the building!! Now we have a bouncer/security guard in our family and know how to act and would put our hands up and leave if we were being unreasonable but really?? So much so that Andy was not very happy with Ricky and made us speak with Hannah the assistant manager who was lovely and dealt with Ricky and we did not see him for the rest of the night. Safe to say we were put off from even entering the clubhouse for the rest of our stay apart from to check out. I hope this was an isolated incident with the disgusting attitude and service we received from Ricky as I would not wish for my worst enemy to be treated in that way.

On the plus side we had walks and other pubs to entertain us and accepted our custom with open arms

Walks
- short 5-10 minute walk to Woolacombe Bay park by caravan C34
- approx 15 min walk to Morthoe by caravans E
- approx 30min walk to Woolacombe beach
All are through National Trust land you will see a few sheep but they move out of the way the walks to the beach are on a thin path up on a hill or a straight path I would not recommend the hill if you have trouble walking/breathing or have little ones

Parking
- Morthoe max £2.60 peak
- Woolacombe beach £6

Beach for dogs
- you can take your dog on the beach if you go to the left of the stream (zone B) where your dog must be kept on a lead if you keep walking past Mill Rock you can let your dog off a lead here but it is all sign posted for you too incase you are not sure.

Dog friendly pubs/bars
- The Red Barn (Woolacombe beach) if you are sitting inside you must only sit at tables on your right as you walk in the food is generous and comes out quickly
- The Chichester Arms (Morthoe) plenty of seating your dog is allowed to sit anywhere inside the pub their food is amazing I really recommend the specials board if you go after 7pm be prepared to wait as it is so popular!
- The Smugglers dogs are allowed anywhere do no rate the food at all

If I hadn't already have booked last year to go back to Twitchen in Sept 2013 then I would have definately rebooked with Woolacombe Bay due to Ricky's behaviour and we could still benefit from the walks as the parks are only a short distance from each other

Room Tip: Worth upgrading for the terrace Bronze caravans have a small toilet

Thank you for your review. I am sorry that this one isolated incident has caused a loyal customer to write a negative review when despite this one incident on one night which was rectified within the hour by the Park management, the rest of your comments seem to be very positive. All of our staff are naturally expected to be polite and courteous and I am sorry that this was not the case on this night; I am pleased that this was rectified and can assure you that the issue has been addressed.

I do hope that this does not put you off your future stay in September and hope that we have a chance to rectify ourselves and have an enjoyable stay.

Staff were very helpful and I was very impressed with the basic caravan. We upgraded to have the decking which was worth it.
The pools were lovely and clean and the on site shop was really reasonably priced too.
It was brilliant that you have use of the other parks and i think Golden Coast is where we'll stay next time as it seemed to be perfect for little ones.
Perfect holiday in my eyes and we'll defiantly be going again.

We stayed 3rd June for a week in a budget caravan because we had a dog and it was a last minute booking. Firstly the bad bits when we arrived the carpet hadn't been cleaned there was thick black dog hair. However, as soon as we had notified reception someone was out within 1/2 hour with a hoover, again when we discovered that the TV didn't have a remote so we were unable to change from DVD to TV mode someone was out with a replacement TV. So although these are negative points they were acted on very quickly. We hadd 5 adults two infants and a dog and the caravan was surprising spacious, although the caravan could sleep 8 there was only enough plates and crockery for 6 ! and the equipment i.e. oven dishes, trays are almost non exsistent. The positives: The park is lovely and clean we even witnessed a park employee (not working) pick up some litter and dispose of it, now you dont see that very often. All the staff are really helpful, entertainment might not be everyones taste but its something to do of an evening, with lots to do for the kids. The indoor and outdoor pools are very clean and safe that is the same for the childrens play area. We were close to the wooded area which was great for dog walks and another bonus point the park has dog bins with doggy bags. Having the use of the other parks is also handy we used the ceramics painting at Golden Coast a good holiday pressie. To improve on these I would suggest having some a carpet sweeper/hoover, more kitchen utinsils and perhaps some garden chairs. Some caravans have a balcony/decking and when we go back we will definately go for these ones as we had no-where to sit outside and our week was the summer of 2013. Thank you to all staff for making it a great holiday.

Room Tip: We stayed in D31, near to the wooded area, quite but near enough to all facilities.

We stayed in a budget caravan expecting nice weather in June but the weather was unseasonably windy and cold so we wernt very warm in our van as there is no bedroom heating in them. Next time we will be choosing a caravan with heating what ever month! However saying that fir a budget van there was lots of room- even enough room in the double to put up the pram for the baby to sleep. The parc is great, new go carts, crazy golf, splash outdoor area and fab outdoor/indoor pools. The night entertainment was brilliant. My little boy loves the parcs double decker bus but most days it was the little beach runner bus that came, even with people having to stand as apparently it want busy enough to warrant the double decker-disappointed children!! We went bowling at Gold Coast the sister parc and that was good fun. The food at the old mill was second to none, especially the carvery. Very family friendly parc.

Thank you for your review, it is very unfortunate to have had this rainy weather in June following some glorious sun shine only weeks ago, our heated bedroom units start from the Silver grade, I am pleased that despite this you found the Budget accommodation suitable for your stay. Thank you for your comments regarding our Park facilities, many of these have just been updated and added this year. I hope that you visit us again in the near future. Aimee Watt - General Manager
