“worth queing”
Reviewed 20 April 2014

Visited twice in the week whilst on holiday, we had cod once, haddock once both were freshly cooked and they tasted fantastic, the chips were lovely, we also bought pies and sausage from here and we had to queue for 45mins, it stretched out the door and up the street, it is obviously worth it.

“Simply the best fish and chips ! ”
Reviewed 12 April 2014 via mobile

I have never had such good fish - light crispy batter and fresh chunky fillets of cod. The chips were really good too but I couldn't finish mine, too many with such large fish but not too much on their own. Woolacombe is now a must when in North Devon , crazy golf & woolacombe fryer!!

“The BEST fish and chips EVER!”
Reviewed 25 February 2014 via mobile

We visit Woolacombe regularly and just wanted to say that The Woolacombe Fryer serves the BEST fish and chips!!!!! The fish is sooooo fresh and the chips and light and fluffy. Always packed out with a queue...but well worth the wait!!!! I only wish we lived nearer as when I'm back home I can't eat fish and chips anywhere else...as nothing compares. Keep up the good work.

“Would have been excellent but is let down by portion/ value for money”
Reviewed 18 October 2013

Firstly it is not a restaurant (there are no sit in facilities) but a humble 'in & out' chippy. I mean in and out literally as there is one door in, you queue around a small shop front and then leave by another door. This shouldn't put you off though as nothing can beat eating your fish and chips on the beach (especially if it's a nice day) which is just across the road. It's only something to be mindful of though if you are looking for somewhere to sit in and eat. This place is really a grab and go take-away place. The shop is very clean, presentable and is clearly well looked after.

I have no complaints about the fish and chips, the fish was very nice. The only grumble we have is for the odd portion sizes/ policy. You can expect to pay slightly more at holiday towns for food and that really isn't an issue. The issue with this place is that for some odd reason they only serve one portion size of chips priced at £2.10. Portion size is of course subjective but in our opinion for the price you pay, the portion is very small.

They also serve in these nice chip boxes which do look very alluring however, they only serve in these if you have fish and chips only. And remember they only serve one portion size so it shouldn't make a difference. I suppose they do look more presentable and justified if you are paying £7.10 for fish and chips.

In summary it was a great taste for a one off and we were blessed with a nice evening to eat them by the sea.
