Our daughter booked Sunday lunch here (after Googling "West Bay restaurants" and reading previous reviews) for our visit to their caravan in the area. Just off the Chesil Bank, the weatherbeaten exterior made us apprehensive; no need.

A really warm and friendly welcome, a specials board and a selection of Sunday roasts. We all selected the roasts and none of us were disappointed: the mightiest Yorkshire puddings with the lamb as well as the beef and a really tasty selection of accompanying vegetables. I asked for extra gravy and there was no problem with this.

I still dream of the delicious chocolate mocha creme brulee; one pudding was no longer available so our lovely waitress, full of apologies, disappeared into the kitchen, coming back to offer yet another delicious alternative, which was quickly taken up!

The loos were clean and pleasant.

I love West Bay and it has been a real delight to find somewhere so welcoming to add to the pleasure.

We stayed for two nights at this hotel/pub in September 2013. The outside looks a little shabby, but the inside is very comfortable. The pub has its own car park, which is very important in a busy tourist area,
We received a warm welcome and were shown to a very comfortable and clean family room on the first floor. As we are a retired couple we appreciated the extra space! The beds were very comfortable and we slept very well. The hospitality tray included some delicious biscuits in a pretty tin.
We ate our evening meal here on both evenings and can recommend both the food and the efficient staff.
The fish dishes were really fresh and locally sourced with very generous portions. There was a very extensive menu offering a really good choice of food.
There is also a good choice of wines and an excellent range of the local Palmers beer,
We also enjoyed the full English breakfasts and were unable to find room to eat any food at lunchtime!
We would have stayed longer than two nights ,but the accommodation was already booked.
We certainly hope to return again next year

Room Tip: Try to avoid rooms at the front of the hotel as there is a busy road outside

We live not far from West Bay, so only eating here. Very pleased by our Sunday lunch experience. Checked that they would allow a dog in the bar, made a telephone reservation for two for the Sunday Lunch. Nice big car park. Table all set and ready for us. Place was pretty well full but tables well spaced. Good choice of meals and from what we could see all very nicely presented. Both our meals were delicious, service fast and friendly. A very enjoyable experience. We will do it again soon.

Room Tip: We only ate here but it looks a nice place to stay.

We were staying locally and chose to eat dinner at this hotel/inn - we had our dog with us and were made very welcome in the pub part of the hotel. The extensive menu majors on seafood of every type and choosing what to eat can be quite a challenge. We had seafood starters and mains which were so filling that we only had space for coffee (not surpisingly the dessert choice was also amazing). Our meals were served promptly by friendly staff. All was very fresh and tasty. Good range of real ales (a CAMRA pub) with a cosy atmosphere, really great place to eat and relax after a bracing walk on the nearby beach.

We transferred to this hotel from the bridport arms and were totally delighted!
The staff were lovely, nothing too much trouble, we were offered check in within an hour of booking at 9.30 am which was very kind of them although we didn't need it as we were off out, we were given the keys though which was very helpful.
Room 1 was lovely clean, recently done up and great shower.
We ate here and enjoyed the food very much. It was a Monday night and a full specials board was available. Delicious scallops and lobster Thermidor was out of this world, accompanied by the best chips I have had in a long time.
The wine list was good too sadly we didn't have room for desert which was a shame as they have a dedicated pastry chef so I'm sure they are good.
All in all a great experience we have just stayed at the hand and flowers in Buckinghamshire which is a 2 Michelin star pub with rooms and honestly this place compares very favourably. I have never been prompted to write a trip advisor review before but this lovely hotel and restaurant deserves it, well done!

Room Tip: Room 1 is great, lovely big bed and great bathroom.

We have just returned from a weekend away at The West Bay Hotel, We have had a fantastic weekend and can't rate the place highly enough. The staff were all so friendly and helpful, with nothing being too much trouble - The food is divine, we ended up eating here both nights as it was so good - we were lucky enough to sample the seafood platter which was incredible. The room was spacious, clean , the shower was powerful and the biscuits on the hospitality tray were yummy ! .... Thanks to everyone who made this a wonderful weekend away ...we would definitely recommend it and will be back again.

We didn't stay here but booked to eat in the restaurant on the last night of our stay in West Bay. As we had eaten seafood on other nights during our stay we chose to eat meat dishes from the main menu - a mistake really as we should have gone for the specials as I think we would have been a lot more delighted instead we were left feeling a little let down. I had beef stroganoff which said it was made from beef fillet, brandy, cream and paprika served with rice - when it came it was dark brown in colour, the meat thickly sliced and definitely not fillet more like rump. The rice was from a packet - golden vegetable maybe? I ate it as it was not horrible but I wont be having that one again. My husband had a fillet steak which he liked - he is really fussy!! He also had the garlic sauce with it which he seemed to enjoy - so mixed reviews for the mains. For dessert - they had run out of the crumble so I had the chocolate and caramel fondant and my husband a tart with damsons and cherries and ice cream. My fondant was solid not runny though sauce had been poured over it - again it was OK. The pub is very well frequented and has a good atmosphere so I think if we did eat there again we will choose from the specials.
