“Best cream tea!”
Reviewed 28 June 2014

If you want tasty, fresh, homemade fare in a beautiful, quirky setting then this is the place. First visit we enjoyed doorstop sandwiches with the freshest, sqidgyest bread filled with beautiful local bacon and ample tea. They serve extra hot water so you don't leave thirsty! We were entertained by their handreared lamb who chose to pop by and say hello although our dog was not so impressed! We visited again on our final day to enjoy prawn sandwiches and cream tea. Masses of delicious prawns filled our sandwich and the scones were warm, light and obviously fresh from the oven. The clotted cream was so thick we could have sliced it! Heaven! This time, entertainment was provided by the farm puppy, inquisitive, friendly and very well behaved. A lovely venue for young and old alike!

“Yum yum yum”
Reviewed 11 May 2014

After visiting the beach we drove to the cafe, the road is bumpy in places but do not let this put you off. The food is very yummy and service friendly. Also dealt with food allergy queries well. Between four of us we had a burger, panini and cream tea. All were very good. Cafe in lovely setting. Would definitely go back.

Discovered this wonderful cafe whilst out walking and had the best cream tea I have ever had! All the other food coming out of the kitchens looked delicious.

“Incomparable”
Reviewed 6 November 2013

For me, the best cup of tea is one that requires some effort to obtain. Whether you walk or drive to the Downhouse Farm Cafe, it is a trip well worth the potholes. The garden is a beautiful, half-covered terrace, looking out over the rolling patchwork of Dorset hillside and the owners have put out bird feeders so we were surrounded by small birds coming in to feed. A stunning setting in which to enjoy an incomparable cream tea. Truly the best I have tasted.

“Another Hidden gem”
Reviewed 4 November 2013

What a find Downhouse farm cafe is, we stayed in a cottage in Eype and another guest had left a heads up in the guest book. The cream teas are to die for but the breakfast was outstanding! If you are driving it is up a bit of a narrow track and could do with a bit better sign posting, but once there it is idilic. You can also buy farm produce from the farm whilst you are there, the bacon is cracking!
