“So friendly and accomodating”
Reviewed 12 July 2014 via mobile

Stayed one Friday night ready to attend a wedding on Saturday. Check in was really friendly. Room right at the top was quaint...everything needed was provided and bed was comfy. Minor gripes like it was very warm in the room, a bit cramped and there was no fixed shower. But more than made up for by an excellent breakfast, where nothing was too much trouble and the food was local, fresh and tasty.
Everyone was most accommodating, especially since the wedding was in town at 12.30 and check-out was 11. We spent a very happy hour sitting in the lounge and were even given a free pot of tea while we waited.
Not the cheapest stay but we were very satisfied with our choice.

We were travelling from North Cornwall to Hampshire and needed a midway stopping-off point. This Hotel was just the place! Bridport sits almost an exact midway point in our journey. The staff tell me that many people travelling from London going to Cornwall use it for the same reason. Bridport sits just 1 mile or so from a lovely little harbour and beach called West Bay. So once you've checked-in, pop down the road to the harbour for a walk around or maybe a sit on the beach and shake the stress of your journey away. The Bridge Hotel does not have a restaurant but offers Breakfast. So sit on the harbour wall and have a fish & chip supper or visit one of the many restaurants in Bridport itself. We opted for the fish & chips but the restaurants looked very good if you wanted something a bit special.
The hotel staff were very welcoming and keen to offer any help needed. The building is a 17th century Inn. It is very clean and tidy, the furnishings are lovely and in keeping with an old coaching inn. The bed was comfortable and we had a good night's sleep to set us up for the remainder of our journey. Breakfast was either a continental style or the usual "English", it was very good and everything freshly cooked. There were locally made jams and marmalades to try and if you liked them they were for sale as well. (There was also local art work for sale).
Although as I said we were there purely to break a long journey, we came away feeling we had been on holiday. You can't say better than that!

Third time I've stayed here, travelling alone and on business. Always friendly greeting, painless check in, and a cup of tea after a long drive...what more could you ask. Well, pretty room, lovely comfy bed and soft and spotless linen. Breakfast could set you up for the whole day...it's fresh, tasty and locally sourced. A couple of nice restaurants a short walk away if you are hungry in the evening...or Sam makes a mean salad in the wine bar downstairs.
Would I stay again?...I already have!

Thoroughly enjoyed our late-booking, over-night stay - we arrived late into the evening and were greeted by a very happy and very member of staff. Our bed was lovely and comfortable, and the linen was incredibly soft! Breakfast was superb and they were happy to cook for us early! All in all a great place to stay, with a very warm welcome.

What a lovely night at the Bridge House Hotel , A really warm welcome - luggage carried up and extra milk supplied when requested. Could not have been more helpful. Room was spacious and spotless with all mod cons and lovekly toiletries. The best bit was the bed linen - I have never knwn cttn like it - like slik really. When I enquired about it, I was informed that great pride is taken in the quality of the linen and all laundering is done on the premisis. This explained it! A truly scrumptious night's sleep
Great breakfast served with a warm welcome and kindness.
A lovely place to stay.

Room Tip: Number 4. Road facing but nice

A lovely and comfortable hotel. Staff are very friendly, helpful, welcoming and accommodating! It's situated in the heart of bridport so convenient, and plenty of parking too which is a bonus for the town centre. Would definitely stay again and recommend.

Check in was painless and the fella running the place showed us up to our room no problem, didn't need to leave key at reception, were told the times they finish on reception and where the wine bar is for later drinks. So aside from the price it was great, I would state they are small rooms but with good facilities and en suite. However I DID wake up at 4 a.m. with the greatest belief that a ghost was tearing up carpet right beside the bed and after an hour or so of wracking my (very tired) brain over what that god awful noise was I realised it was the damn flag right outside the window of our room in the high winds (although I'm sure it's just as scary whilst sober and without spring winds) I already knew the room next door was empty hence my terror. For £130 a night for a three star I think is a bit extreme, everything was clean and nice but just what I'd expect really (comparing our recent trip elsewhere we booked a FOUR star for TWO nights for less that one night here) was still pleasant. HOWEVER there was a cock-up upon departure with the room tab and more was charged until pointed out by us that it was the wrong amount.
I would stay again but NOT for the same price. not even relatively close to the seafront either. Still one of the better places I have stayed. *shakes head at price*

Room Tip: DON'T get a room on the front (flag and traffic a major weakener)
