“Great hotel, wonderful staff, welcoming and good location”
Reviewed 6 August 2009

We had originally booked another hotel for 3 nights and on arrival is was awful so went to find another and found this hotel. From the moment of greeting us at reception we were treated so well, we were shown around the room to make sure we like it, the staff had the room ready early for us which was a great help. Every member of staff has been helpful and friendly, the room we choose is the superior family room which is a lovely bright clean room with all mod cons a great bathroom and plenty of everything you could need. The breakfast was amazing with nothing being too much trouble, the basement brasserie and winebar is a wonderful area to while away the time but allows children so our evening meal there was top class again with a very helpful and friendly staff member. I would not hesitate to return or recommend this hotel to any friend or anyone at all. thanks for a lovely stay!

Not bad for 2 stars would be a fair summary. Well placed for Bridport and the dorset cost, friendly welcome and good breakfast. The deluxe family room (no 6) is beautiful, but some others needing the refits that are gradually being done. A little pricey for what ias offered - the Deluxe is £149/night.

The Bridge House Hotel (Bridport) - Rodger, Olya, Ettie & Tamzin
We were staying at the Bridge House Hotel with a number of friends for a party that we were all going to. The Bridge House seemed to be the only place that would even consider booking us in for one night only and made no complaint or comment about doing so. When we arrived, we were given a warm welcome by Rodger and quickly taken to our room, which was clean fresh and lovely. Rodger had in the meantime taken our order & time for breakfast (09:45 - very reasonable) and introduced us to the "Honesty" bar should the need arise later that night (which it did). When we returned from the Party we were able to take full use of the bar and enjoyed a few good night caps mulling over the nights events.
In the morning we were welcomed with a smile by Olya and proceeded to make the most of a fine English breakfast till revived.
All in all it felt like home from home as we really did feel like we could make ourselves as comfortable as possible. The Bridge House team could not have been more accommodating and helpful in making our stay as enjoyable and pleasant as possible. Our stay here was the icing on the cake to my wife's birthday celebrations for which we were all very grateful.
Next time we will definitely stay for longer and try out your Hermitage Restaurant which you were equally enthusiastic about.
Thank you for such a positive stay

We stayed here on 3rd Jan 2009. It was tough finding a hotel in the area that was open on this winter weekend, reasonably priced, and would accept a one-night booking at the weekend! The hotel was prompt to respond to email, and I spoke on the phone to very friendly staff to guarantee the room with a credit card. The cost for a double room was £89/night.

When we arrived we were treated to the same friendly welcome and shown to a lovely double room. The hotel is small, nicely decorated and clean.

The two most important things to me in a hotel were satisfied: the shower was great (good water pressure and hot!), and the bed was comfortable.

Breakfast was fantastic. The scrambled eggs on toast were the best I've ever had! My partner had the full English with no complaints. Cereals and fruit were available as well as cooked food.

The restaurant is currently being refurbished so we could not try that out, but if the breakfast is anything to go by the food will be great!

We have friends in the area and will definitely stay here again when visiting. Good value, good food and friendly!

  • Liked — Friendly, small, charming, fantastic breakfast
