“Distinct Possibilities”
Reviewed 16 April 2013

Spent a couple of days here with my wife, daughter, son in law and grandchildren during the easter break.
Arrived late afternoon on the Friday and knocked at the Farmhouse no answer and no sign of the owners, my daughter searched round and found the right cottage and we moved in, at no time during the four days that my family stayed there did they see sight nor sound of the owners and/or staff.
My daughter and family left on the Monday still non the wiser, does not inspire you with confidence about the ambience of the place.
The whole place was a little bit tired and I think this could have been due to the horrible weather and perhaps they have not had time (if they exist) to get prepared for the new season.
However my granddaughter loved the grounds, the play area and small boating lake the skittles etc.
Probably looks totally different in the sunshine and being met by a friendly face. Who knows ?

Stayed at Stable Cottage and found the cottage excellent standard with every comfort you need in good quality self catering property. Excellent location with brilliant facilities for our 2year old. Loved the sandpit, toys, wendy house and playpark, It was perfect safe environment to let him play in. He loved the ducks and we had our own garden for him to run round in. It is so peaceful and relaxing but in a good location to see the highlights of the area, West Bay, Abbotsbury, Weymouth and Lyme Regis are in easy reach by car. And of course lots of lovely beaches. The little fishing lake is also fun for the Dads and Daddy caught 4 fish which made him very happy too! This was our second stay and we cant wait to go back. Good quality accommodation at an excellent price.

Visited Rudge Farm in September 2012, staying in Keepers. Loved the farm and the location. Our 2 year old loved the sandpit, trampoline and games room. Enjoyed it so much that we are talking about returning next year with our son and not yet born baby!

Great location as well, Hive Beach was lovely and Chesil Beach is a short drive away.

We stayed in Pigsty cottage as a couple for 10 days. The setting is magical - so quiet - and I have not seen so many stars at night for years. If you have a family there is loads to do. Fishing or rowing on the pond, feeding the ducks, trampoline, football, table tennis, tennis DVD loan and a sandpit and playhouse. We mainly walked in the countryside which is brilliant walking . Lots of well marked and more obscure footpaths. Iron age forts, standing stones and fossils on the beach. It seems as though thousands of years of history are side by side down the coast. Most of the beaches are pebbly and the sandy ones get a little full at peak times. If you are an Internet junkie west Dorset is not for you! No phone signal in many places - most actually on O2! If you want peace and quiet and relaxation thus is it!

We stayed here for a long weekend in may in orchard cottage. The location is just incredible and our one year old loved the ducks that gather by the terrace steps. The sandpit, swings and play house all add to the amazing range of entertainment for young toddlers. Older children also have plenty to do with skittles and table tennis. Overall cannot fault - this is a piece of heaven and we cannot wait to return for a full week.

We have just had our fourth holiday with friends and family staying at Rudge and it really is a beautiful place. The cottages are nicely kitted out and very comfortable. We have stayed in Gardeners Cottage each time which has two bedrooms, a bathroom and an open kitchen/living room/diner. I think between our group, most cottages have been stayed in by now! There is a games room on the farm which has DVDs you can borrow - the pool table is in need of a bit of "tlc" but you can still play a reasonable game on it. Up in the barn is a skittles alley, table tennis and a football table and with the outdoor tennis court, the local walks and the boats on the lake and there is enough to keep you occupied! If you fancy doing nothing, you can use the picnic bench outside the front of your cottage, which can be a bit of a sun trap in nice weather. Rudge is approximately 10 mins drive from Bridport and 5 mins from Burton Bradstock and there are plenty of places to visit in the local area. We would recommend the brewery tour at Palmers in Bridport, which is a good way of spending an hour and a half, especially with the generous tasters at the end!

We chose Rudge Farm for a mini, close family, re-union, occupying three cottages with ages ranging from 15 months to 77 years, for a long weekend break. We were all of the same opinion (even the 15 month old it would seem, who had a great time with the ducks and hens) that this site proved a good choice. The cottages were clean, well equiped, warm and cosy, whilst the grounds were well maintained. Though in the depths of the countryside, the location is such that it is easy to get out and about to such places as Abbotsbury, Bridport, West Bay, Charmouth etc. Only wish we had been in a position to book for a whole week.

Rudge Farm Cottages is peacefully situated on a gentle south-facing slope, overlooking the beautiful Bride Valley and close to Dorset’s World Heritage coastline. The farm is a haven for peace and tranquility within 20 acres of beautiful countryside of mature woodland, meadows and lakes. The old farm buildings have been thoughtfully converted into ten attractive holiday cottages, maintaining many of the original features, ranged around a flower-decked yard and with spectacular views across the Bride Valley towards the Coast. The cottages are all 4 star tourist board rated and are comfortably furnished with a warm and inviting atmosphere providing the perfect place for families or couples. The cottages vary in size from one to three bedrooms with most accommodation on the ground floor. Around the Farm we have plenty of leisure facilities, a picturesque woodland walk and sporting activities, including an all weather tennis court, for the more active. Alternatively you can enjoy relaxing down by the meadows or perhaps take a gentle row around the lake. The games room and games barn provide plenty of indoor activities if the weather is not so good. These include pool, table tennis, skittle alley and table football. The farm is also ideal for younger children with safe play areas including a sandpit, swings and slides, trampoline and activity pirate ship. Close to Rudge Farm there are plenty of fantastic beaches, including Hive Beach which has the highly recommended (by the Sunday Times) Hive Beach Cafe. There are also great beaches a bit further afield at Lyme Regis and Weymouth. The Dorset Coastline is a World Heritage site and provides some of the most dramatic coastline in the UK with Chesil Beach, Durdle Door and Golden Cap. ... more   less
