“Duck Street Cottage - everything you could want and more.... just fantastic!”
Reviewed 24 April 2014 for a stay in April 2014

Stayed in No.7 Duck Street Cottage over the Easter 2014 holiday. Myself, my fiancée and our Yorkie had a wonderful stay. Don't be fooled by rustic first appearances - when you enter the cottage it has modern luxury written all over it with all the comforts of home and more. The location is charming and the local people very friendly and welcoming, plus it's pet friendly, which is a big plus for us.

What struck us was the care and attention paid by the Estate staff to ensure there was fresh milk, bread, eggs, jam, tea and coffee waiting for us when we got there. Thoughtful touches like a fully stocked Inglenook fireplace complete with kindling, logs and firelighters so that we could light a roaring fire. It was fantastic.

The super comfy king-size bed complete with Egyptian cotton bedding made us think we were in a 5-star hotel and we slept like logs. The bathroom is excellent with lovely big bath and separate power-shower. It was warm, cosy and welcoming. In addition, it has a lovely TV and DVD player, plus wi-fi access.

The friendly and efficient Estate staff looked in on us to ensure everything was all right for us - nothing was too much trouble. Overall, it was a superb place to stay and I cannot recommend it highly enough to others. We will definitely be returning. Thank you to all at Symondsbury Estate for giving us a lovely Easter break.

“Idyllic Thatched Cottage in beautiful surroundings”
Reviewed 26 March 2014 for a stay in March 2014

The pictures of the cottage did not do it justice. It is a cosy, peaceful, beautifully maintained cottage and the welcome pack on arrival is just lovely. Having read the guest book that is kept in the cottage, everybody has made the same comments. It is very well equipped and clean and cosy!

“Great area and the house is very well equipped/finished”
Reviewed 31 October 2013 for a stay in October 2013

The village is very nice the locals very welcoming. The pub is the hub of the community and well worth a visit. The house is clean, quant, well finished and equipped.

The walking in the area is a highlight with lots of well marked public walking trials.

Lots of great towns and villages in the area with good cafes and restaurants.

“So good you don't want to go home”
Reviewed 14 October 2013 for a stay in October 2013

Duck Cottage surpassed all expectations. This idyllic cottage is so cosy and luxurious, the bed is the most comfortable I have ever experienced, so much so that for once I was not glad to go home to my own bed.....I would rather have stayed at Duck Cottage. Everything else about the property is just as good, including the lovely log fire. The village is beautiful and the walks superb. I guarantee you will not be disappointed with a visit to this little gem.

“Gorgeous cottage in lovely village”
Reviewed 20 May 2013 for a stay in May 2013

Duck Cottage is beautifully presented and very comfortable - perfect for two. It was especially nice that the bedroom and bathroom were so spacious - a second bedroom hadn't been squeezed in as you would find in so many properties. The kitchen is small but has everything you would need, and the welcome basket on arrival is a lovely touch. We particularly enjoyed the fire even though it was May! The pub nearby does good food and the staff are very welcoming. We had a couple of walks straight from the door, particularly going up Hell's Lane which feels like you are going back to the Jurassic era.

“Really comfortable cottage in delightful surroundings”
Reviewed 11 May 2013 for a stay in April 2013

Spent a week there with my wife and 2-year-old daughter. Duck Street Cottage is full of character but also comfortable and spacious. Symondsbury is quiet and has lovely walks from the door.

There is a pub but no shop...you need to go to Bridport a couple of miles away to get provisions.

“Delightful cottage in a perfect location.”
Reviewed 19 March 2013 for a stay in March 2013

Had a fantastic four night break in Duck Street Cottage. It was warm and cosy on our arrival and the basket of goodies was a lovely touch.
The cottage is beautifully decorated and furnished with a well equipped kitchen. Lots of fluffy towels and bathrobes! Lovely enclosed garden for our little dog too.
The village of Symondsbury is close to lots of super beaches (we visited six beaches in our short break and climbed to the Golden Cap! )
The local pub was good for a meal on a cold, windy night !
We thoroughly enjoyed staying at this lovely cottage and will definitely be back ........
