This place was a lovely hotel/pub. they were very friendly, full english breakfast was just perfect, we had to wake up the landlord as we were late coming back after a party, we could not get the door to open, but that was no problem as he had only retired 10 minutes earlier. The room was very roomy with a single bed in, giant tv, en-suite. Very clean, bed very comfortable really had a good night sleep. we would recommend this place to anyone, whether it be a single person, a couple or a family. And very resonable prices.

We had no intention of stopping by Bridport on a sunny Sunday in March, but we got a flat tire and ended up stopping. We got lucky and found a huge, clean room at the Lord Nelson Hotel. The staff were so helpful with our luggage and getting us settled in. The Wifi worked well in the room. The breakfast the next morning was delicious. Unfortunately we forgot to pay for our night on our way out, and only discovered that hours and many miles later. Thankfully when we went back 10 days later, the owner was very gracious about the mix up.

We could not fault this hotel at all!
The rooms were clean & newly decorated, the beds very comfortable. We both had an excellent nights sleep! We were in Room 2 which had a double and a single bed (handy for laying out clothes)
We ate both evening meal and breakfast - both meals were freshly cooked and lovely. The staff were incredibly friendly & helpful.
The most amazing thing about this hotel was the cost! The evening meal was less than £5 each and the cost for the room for two of us including breakfast was £60.
I would not hesitate to recommend this Hotel to anybody wanting a stopover in Bridport.

Stayed at The Lord Nelson for a couple of nights. Cheapest hotel in Bridport. Found a couple of reviews and gave it a go.
On the whole we got value for money. The room was very clean and a good size with an enormous TV. En-suite bathroom with power shower. Full English breakfast was delicious. Good location too.
The tenants are leaving in September and it seems that they have been completely ground down. They are simply going through the motions. The rooms and the hotel as a whole could do with freshening up. I don't know if it's the fault of the brewery, Palmers, or the tenants running out of steam.
Beer quality in the bar was great and there was a friendly crowd on the first night. The second night we were alone.
To sum up, we got what we paid for. Just. It could be a really great place to stay. But now it's just OK.
Eat out at Olive Tree opposite.

Me and my partner travelled up to Bridport for his job and we tried and tried every hotel in Bridport but were told they were fully booked.

We phoned one place who actually told us they were not a hotel anymore and we asked if they could recommend anywhere and were given this pubs phone number.

We were put in a family room which was very cosy - the bed was really really comfy and I had a very good nights sleep.

The television was massive!!!

Breakfast was lovely especially the sausages and as soon as we went into the breakfast room, our breakfast was delivered to us within seconds!

Would definitely stay there again.

Staff were lovely too!

We had a very comfortable overnight stay (25th April) with extremely friendly people and excellent homely food. Good value for money and greatly recommended. The hotel is situated in the centre of Bridport giving instant access to the shops and a comfortable walk to Wets Bay and the coast.

Room Tip: Located in the middle of the town.
