We stayed here for two nights in a deluxe room which was fantastic. Huge big bed, lots of room, beautiful decor - it really felt like we were staying somewhere luxurious.
The first night we ate and drank in the Stable - a pizza and cider place attached to the hotel, great atmosphere, quite a young crowd and really relaxed, and staff were really friendly and helpful with choosing ciders. lovely informal friday night.
The next morning we had an absolutely delicious breakfast served in our room, can't fault it it was amazing!
Saturday afternoon we relaxed by an open fire in the bar and had some drinks, and in the evening we enjoyed a meal in the restaurant. Its a lovely space, great service and a very varied menu.
Sunday morning we tried breakfast in the restaurant - very very yummy!
A review of the bull can't be written without mentioning their amazing cocktail bar. Dimly lit, beautiful furnishings, very helpful and courteous staff, and the cocktails were just fantastic. Its behind a ballroom upstairs, so you really feel like you're in a secret hideaway up there! Don't go here without trying it!
Overall this is a fantastic boutique hotel, it is lovely for a romantic weekend away whether you like a pizza and pub, or restaurant and cocktails, it has it all, plus a lovely open courtyard.
Pros:
- Relaxed atmosphere
- Fantastic staff
- Amazing cocktails

Pros:
- Relaxed atmosphere
- Fantastic staff
- Amazing cocktails
- great location
- Gorgeous rooms
- great variety of eating/drinking
- delicious ciders
- great location to explore the area
- luxury smellies
Cons
- pretty rubbish water pressure in the bath and shower in our room, which was a shame. it took most of an england 6 Nations rugby game to fill it!
- £5 charge to have breakkie in your room - a little bit cheeky i've never come across this before.
- don't order wine in the pizza cider stable! its not great ha ha - should know better - stick to their yummy cider range!
- restaurant food didn't quite live up to the lovely room, setting and service which was a shame. Really tasty and some yummy local cheese/meats but not as good as the rest of the hotel.
- a beautiful bed but a bit squeaky - eek!
Overall a really lovely hotel in a beautiful place and perfect for a romantic weekend trip.
We were fortunate enough to have babysitters, but they are very family friendly there and one couple had their baby monitor in the cocktail bar.More
