Attraction details
Owner description: Sladers Yard is one of the most ambitious art galleries in the South West, showing contemporary British art, handmade furniture and designer craft. Housed in an historic Georgian rope warehouse, with pillared galleries and flower-filled courtyard, it is five minutes walk from the beach and harbour in West Bay, Dorset. Sladers Yard has an acclaimed cafe which is open every day serving coffees, lunches and teas. It has its own Tripadvisor entry under Sladers Yard Cafe. Please review the cafe there! Many thanks.

“Better than "Broadchurch"!”
Reviewed 1 May 2013

First came across Sladers Yard in 'Dorset Art Weeks' a few years ago and absolutely loved the quality of food, the merchandise and the contemporary art and fine furniture on display. It's very close to the beach at West Bay as well as having a lovely sheltered courtyard to sit in.

It was lovely to pop in last Sunday morning (as I was passing between Lyme Regis and Bournemouth) and receive such a warm welcome. The shop was closed but opened up so I could buy another gorgeous Margo Selby scarf and have a quick look around the Gallery, followed by a big slab of fab lemon polenta down in the cafe!

Bought along a friend who was impressed and will no doubt be back too. Will definitely visit again soon, and looking forward to 'Dorset Arts Weeks' next year already.

“lovely food and friendly people”
Reviewed 30 October 2012

very interesting place to eat, we sat out in the courtyard area (stroking the lovely pet dog), we only had cake and coffee but it was delicious. Would highly recommend. Home made cakes at their best :)

“Lovely food and great art”

A real gem in a town of fish and chips! We had a lovely mezze - great falafel. Worth stepping back from the main harbour to find this place.

A really great place to go and have a nice cup of tea and enjoy good art on the walls in the great metropolis of West Bay.

“Quality Cafe and Art Gallery”
Reviewed 27 March 2011

Just on the edge of West Bay this place is a converted barn. The owner is a furniture maker and he shows his own nice but very expensive furniture here, together with constantly changing contemporary art exhibitions. The art here is interesting to look at but likely to be out of the budget of most visitors.

The cafe does good sandwiches and cakes, not cheap but decent stuff and if its a sunny day there is a nice outside eating area.
