Fond this site after joining the Caravan and Camping club. Great discount available if you are a member and they offer a family rate per night which includes 2 adults and upto 4 kids in the price which makes for a slighty cheaper break away as a family.

Beautifully maintained site which was perfect for a walk around every evening after tea, which our three boys loved especially on their scooters and visiting the two play parks. Great location, quite central to local places of interest.

Only thing I felt let it down was the lack of things in the on site shop. Perfect if you want to buy toys, colouring books and bits for the kids but could do with more groceries (fruit, veg...) which would save a trip to the local supermarket for a few things.

Great week away, shame the weather wasn't great, but would def recommend and hope to come back.

Dear Hayley,

Thank you for your review and how you found your stay with us, very kind of you.

Apologies regarding the selection in the shop; we agree with you that it would be good to have more vegetables and fruit in our shop. Sadly we have tried stocking these in the past but they do not sell and with such a short shelf life, it is not always feasible for us to have them.

I hope that we have a chance to welcome you again.

We booked this site for an Easter stay after visiting a few sites in the Dorset area over the winter period – the onsite warden was happy to show us around during a very cold January morning.

Someone has obviously put a lot of time, effort and thought into this site. Ideally situated just over the border of Devon into Dorset with easy access off the A35, this site is a real gem as a base to use for exploring East Devon and Dorset's Jurassic coastline.
As you approach the site via the lane off the A35, it is all too easy to miss the entrance, it comes upon you quite quickly and it isn’t over-signed.

The entrance is big and wide, with a security barrier that is locked between 2300 and 0700, early morning fishing trips need to be planned in advance, leaving your car in the small car park to the lower entrance.

The large roundabout outside the reception area can get congested especially on busy arrival days, but it is wide enough for any size unit to negotiate.

Check-in at reception was easy and fuss-free, the site is quite simple to find your way around, we soon found our “Jumbo” pitch which is suitable for the larger motorhome units (up to 9 metres long). The pitches are predominantly set to 10mm gravel, making for a pleasant surface to walk upon etc, without dragging loads of grass cuttings into your unit! All units & awnings need to be placed upon the gravel area – this keeps the grass unaffected by long-term awning use. The pitches appear level to the eye but we did have to use quite a few levelling blocks and still didn't have it as good as we wanted, just something to be aware of.

The grass keep of this site is by far the best we have ever encountered, the lawns are superbly cut and there aren’t grass cuttings everywhere, which is nice.
Electric hook-up points are of good quality and well placed – again the same can be said for the water supply taps and disposal points.

This site also has what can be said to be the best motorhome service point I have come across to date – plenty wide enough and screened from people – not everyone wants to see/smell you dumping your onboard tanks!! Also the cassette toilet emptying points aren’t just a hole in the ground, but a proper stainless steel ‘table’ to allow you to properly and easily wash your cassette – plus the hand sanitiser on the wall for you to use on the way out is a nice touch.

The two showerblocks and bathrooms are clean and tidy, checked regularly by staff. I would think during busy periods, there would be queues for the showers – they really do need more showers to cope with site demand. On our visit there was no hot water in one of the main blocks – given the demand for them this wasn’t really acceptable – surely this should have been repaired by an on-call plumber/electrician during this busy time at Easter?

There isn’t a clubhouse/pub/bar/restaurant on this site – if you need this then this site isn’t for you – but there is a good pub within a short drive or sensible walking distance. Also there is no swimming pool here but the children didn’t seem to mind.

There was plenty of space for the children to run off their energy, the play areas are great and kept well cut.

WiFi access was a pay-for service (Two devices allowed per voucher, which was handy) and had reasonable coverage/reliability but given the price we paid to stay here, I would have expected it to be included in the pitch fee in this WiFi-dependent-age - especially when the weather turns sour - children NEED their tablet devices to keep the parents sane!

All in all, this was a good site, not the cheapest but you get what you pay for. We will be back!

Thank you for your kind review on our holiday park. I do note your comment about the hot water failure in the smaller shower block over Easter. Our gas engineers were struggling to identify the problem over Easter particularly as the manufacturers officers were closed for the holiday break. Notices were posted on the doors advising of this intermittent problem and there was plenty of capacity in the other shower block.

Just returned from a week with our caravan at this lovely Camping and Caravan Club site. It is immaculately maintained and the showers and toilets are one of the best we have experienced if a little dated. Lovely hot water and large shower cubicles with heating. Pleasant staff . Shame about the cost of wifi - £15 for the week - which was very "hit and miss". The walks that the staff have prepared are excellent - you pay a returnable deposit of £5 per walk - we used 2 which we thoroughly enjoyed. One was a circular walk around Hawkesbury - about 1.75 hours starting at the church and ending with lunch at the Old Inn which is recommended. Loads to do in the area - recommend Hive Beach at Burton Bradstock where there is a lovely cafe. We will return.

We stayed in the farmhouse for three nights in mid December and were all thoroughly impressed. Our group comprised of 4 adults, 3 teenagers, 1 toddler and 1 baby.

The house itself is 17th century and is in superb condition. You can clearly tell that a lot of thought has gone into kitting the place out and making it family friendly. For example there are stair gates which proved very useful for our inquisitive toddler. The whole house was really snug which obviously went down well given the chilly weather outside.

The kitchen has all modern appliances with plenty of room to cook a Sunday roast. The main sitting room has a big widescreen telly and the wifi kept the teenagers happy as they could stay connected to their busy social lives! There is loads of room throughout the house so you never felt on top of each other.

There is a patio outside and a really pretty enclosed garden, which would be amazing in the summer for barbeques.

We all really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back.
