Description: We serve the finest Palmer's Ales and fantastic food with ingredients sourced from the best local producers. Our cliff top terrace comfortably seats 100 and the views are arguably some of the best in the country, if not the world! During the summer months we serve a great selection of fresh fish & shellfish caught from West Bay and Weymouth, and lobsters straight from our beach! In winter, the emphasis changes to hearty stews, slow cooked meats and watching the storm waves crash in with the comfort of our roaring wood burner. So whether you're after a light bite, a full on lunch or dinner, or just a pint or two, then The Anchor Inn at Seatown is the place for you!!

We stayed at Golden Cap for a few days and ate at The Anchor for breakfast and dinner during our stay. It is the most amazing location and worth a visit for that alone, but our experience of the food and service was excellent.
We especially enjoyed the fresh seafood, the excellent chips and the mushrooms with our breakfasts! We noted how much effort the staff needed to make to get people to respect Covid rules and as a result of their efforts we felt very safe.
I was especially grateful for the excellent cocktails and the knowledgeable advice on the best rum to mix with my Diet Coke!
We really look forward to returning when the staff can give their full attention to their job of serving customers without the additional pressure of enforcing Covid regulations.

First , a word or two about the owner / managers strict publicised rules about Covid regs and zero tolerance to staff abuse . Very well said sir !!!! Hospitality and retail workers have had to put up with some really difficult situations in these awful times . While we were in the pub staff had to very very politely remind customers about wearing a mask when away from their table. It only takes a few months to potty train a toddler , how long to train us to put a mask on ?
We were greeted very warmly and shown to a table . Seconds later we were served with water . Not for us but for Rufus the Retriever. If you are a dog owner you will know how important this little gesture is.
The food was perfect . We love seafood so were thrilled to be able to share a lobster . In our defence , it’s ages since we have eaten out . It is very easy to muck up shellfish by doing too much too it but the little additions were just right .
Bearing in mind the fact that we spoiled ourselves the bill was incredibly reasonable
However the way we were looked after was what made the experience so special. Even though someone is wearing a face mask you can still see the beaming welcoming smile
Good luck to you all

Staying in the area locally so a one off visit. We were seated quickly (before evening rush) by a friendly member of staff. However we did't get offered a table, it was simply an outdoor 'breakfast bar' like table with two very uncomfortable wooden stools.
We ordered a round of drinks before our food order was taken, but after 2 sips of one of the drink we noticed there was lipstick marks on the glass. This was changed without a fuss, but all things considered (especially in covid times) you would expect much better attention to detail.
The food was okay. Portion size was generous, the fish and chips was nice however, the burger was inedible without cutlery due to a soggy bottom bum. We feel it was overpriced.
No staff came over to us at all during the meal to check if our meal was okay. Lack of staff to be seen all-round.
When the plates were taken away, we ordered another drink, which failed to arrive. We also couldn't help but notice the rotten wood seems in the bench we were placed at. Woodlice were moving in and out of the cracks, very unappetising, thankfully we'd noticed this after we'd eaten!
There was a queue forming towards the end of our meal and a different server simply brought over our bill (without us even asking for it, still not receiving the 2nd drinks order) which made us feel like we were being rushed out. Clearly they wanted our space.
We certainly wouldn't look to return in the future as we know despite the view your money can get you so much more.

Been here many times and have always really enjoyed it. However, today’s visit was very disappointing. Firstly despite it not not being very busy the service was very slow. Eventually when we were served, our food turned up before our drinks. Putting numbers on the tables would help the staff in identifying the patrons rather than wandering round helplessly trying to find out who ordered the “burger and chips”. The menu seems to be more limited. We had the crab brioche which at £15 seemed expensive for what it was (basically a soft hotdog roll with crabmeat and a few chips) and their was a distinct lack of ham and cheese on our other baguette. A request for some mayonnaise was ignored and the final sticking point was being charged £4.20 for a pint of lime cordial and soda water! When I questioned this we were told we should expect to pay a premium because the pub is so popular. Add to this the £5 parking charge (which used to be refunded if you ate in the pub which made sense) I for one won’t be rushing back to this “popular” pub in.a hurry. I appreciate the service industry have had an incredibly difficult time and we want to support them but please don’t take the paying public’s support for granted. We still expect a certain level of service and value.

How absolutely wonderful to be sat outside a restaurant again, eating a great meal, sipping a wine and admiring the perfect view. We were seated during a busy time with speed and efficiency, Cosmo was the perfect staff member, relaxed, attentive, polite and charming. It felt like the beginning of the end of lockdown, an ideal venue to browse a great menu, encouraged to have a great time, eat good food, and forget the past year ! This is also the most wonderful place to walk from, in fact you could stay a week here, abandon the car and just enjoy the beach and cliff walks. (And yes, we found ammonites a few yards away on the beach!)
