From Swanage you can walk to Corfe Castle in about 2 hours. Take the Ulwell Road towards the ferry, and just as you leave Swanage, you will see a footpath and bridleway signposted Corfe Castle. Just follow the footpath over Nine Barrow Down - it's a well trodden track - and you will be treated to views of St Adhelms Head, Poole Harbour, and Corfe Castle.
It's an easy 2 hour walk, and if you have the energy, it's a popular route for mountain bikes. When you get to Corfe Castle, follow the road into the village, where you have a choice of visiting the castle, having a coffee in one of the lovely cafes, or having lunch in one of the cosy pubs.
If you don't want to walk back to Swanage, you can take the number 40 bus (one per hour in the summer) or the Swanage Railway. In any case, don't miss the chance for a photo of the castle taken from the railway platform, just as a train steams in.

The ruins of the once mighty Corfe Castle are still impressive. It stands on top of a hill in a very scenic rural landscape. The little village of Corfe Castle, at the foot of the ruin, is picturesque. This is where Enid Blyton wrote her children's books and you can imagine where she got the inspiration from. I was there on a beautiful sunny and warm summer day and it was beautiful, even though the castle ruins were being repaired, so there was a lot of scaffolding too.
Well recommended to visit when you're in the area.
