My second visit to Mortons House, I spent a 4 night Easter break with my two young daughters. We were in the Purbecks for a walking break and we were very lucky with the weather so no complaints there. We had the family / loft room which is two bedrooms (one twin, one double) and a large bathroom, for £195 a night. Great views of Corfe Castle from both rooms - see pics. We had a very pleasant stay, the hotel is in a lovely location and the building itself is very pretty. Food in the restaurant is first class whether you choose from the a la Carte or the "Lounge" menu, and breakfasts really are quite excellent. Overall, this is a very good hotel and I would certainly visit again - without doubt it is one of the best places to stay in the Purbeck area. At these prices I can be a stickler for detail and it's always possible to find things wrong (for example, the water pressure in the shower was a bit unpredictable first thing in the morning), but this is an old building and we were up in the loft, so not the end of the world. And I was very pleased that the unexpected prompt for a service charge on the entire bill, which so irritated me last time, is gone. This is a great place to stay for a break in this part of the world.

Room Tip: If you are over 6ft tall, you might not find the loft room ideal - I am not 6ft tall and I banged my...

A wonderful and very welcome piece of luxury. After three days of running along the coast finishing at Studland, to only drive a few miles from there and find is fantastic hotel with its very friendly staff and super comfortable bed (room 12) was a great treat.

Room Tip: Enjoy a pre-dinner drink in the lounge by he real log fire and then go back for coffee after dinner...

We booked into the hotel this weekend. It was a last minute booking so didn't get a room in the main hotel but the room was clean with En Suite. We booked dinner and bed and breakfast at £230 which is a little expense but for the location it wasn't extortionate. Dinner was fantastic really good quality food and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Overall the location is fantastic, food fantastic, staff fantastic, room nice enough, price a little too expensive. I would recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

Room Tip: Try and stay in the main house

We have just come back from a lovely 3 night stay at the hotel. Can recommend room 11, so very peaceful, slept so well. Our room had a nice view of the castle, admittedly from the bathroom and the other window towards the railway station, can recommend the room had everything that you need. We had one of our evening meals in the hotel and it was superb and passed on our compliments to the Chef. Breakfast was also nice with a selection of juices, cereal, natural yogurt, fruit compote, hot breakfasts, kippers, smoked salmon and eggs etc…extra toast, tea, coffee on request. All the staff were so friendly, warm and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble . We had such a nice stay hopefully, we will be back later in the year to stay at Mortons House Hotel and to explore more of Dorset.

Room Tip: hotel is on a busy road, so it might help to choose a room facing the hills towards Corfe Castle

The hotel is a very quaint building in a beautiful setting. Nothing can be faulted in terms of great customer service. We got a really good deal on 3 for 2 nights, but would probably not have stayed if we'd being paying flat rate for all three nights.

The staff are all very engaged and go about their job with professionalism and a great attitude. The food and wines are excellent quality. I found the main dinner menu choices a little too fancy for my tastes, but the lounge menu was very good. We enjoyed the dinners a great deal. Breakfast was pretty good, but wasn't amazed.

The oak room is a great character room - worth spending an hour or so pre-dinner in there by the log fire. Overall, the place was clean but the decor was not the most modern style, which may well suit the majority of guests who were mostly 50+

Our room was the loft suite and due to a mix-up on bookings, we were moved for the final night to the Purbeck suite. The former had views of the castle and the latter views of the station. Both were extremely comfortable and showers/baths were fine.

I'd recommend the village of Corfe Castle as the best place in the region of Wareham/Swanage and the hotel as worth staying at if you can afford to. If you can't... at least get down to their restaurant or the neighbouring Castle Inn, who do a great pork tenderloin.

Room Tip: Loft suite not ideal for those over 5 ft 9 despite good views. Purbeck suite was fine - good space.

Beautiful hotel with cosy log fires, cozy rooms and beautiful decor. The food was amazing. We dined in the restaurant where we had the most delicious meal. Staff were friendly and very went out of their way to make our stay a truly enjoyable one! We stayed in room 6 which didn't have a shower but a wonderful victorian bath, which filled up in seconds! Delightful! Lovely, peaceful area. Would love to go back there again!
