We travel here from Sherborne as the Sunday carvery is excellent. You need to book as it is so busy and popular. The service and quality of food is superb and there is a good choice of food even on a Sunday. The carvery is lovely with a choice of at least 4 meats and you can have a slice of each if you wish. The service is fast and attentive and you are not waiting long until your food arrives. Good choice of sweets aswell!!!

Room Tip: Make sure you book in advance

We have driven past this pub many times but never ventured in before. The decoration inside was not what I was expecting, it was very light and contemporary. The staff were very freindly and showed us to a table and took our drink order while we looked at the menu. There was a very wide choice of food and prices ranging from a very good value £6. The beef and haggis wellington with mash and gravey was accompanied by a separate bowl of fresh vegetable - £7;.it was one of the tastiest meals out that I have had in a long time. My husband and I visited early lunch time on a Monday but it did become busy so I think if you went in the evening it would be a good idea to book as it seemed very popular. It is much more a restautant than a pub but well worth a visit for the food. We live about 18 miles away but now we have been once we will be visiting again as we enjoyed it so much and it was very good value.

What a surprise! Sitting down to the "full Scottish" in the depths of rural England and delicious it was! The best black pudding we have tasted for many a long year! What surprised us on our first night at the King's Arms was how busy it was for a Thursday night. That however was as nothing when it came to Friday and Saturday nights when in Scottish parlance it was positively " hoaching ". The quality of the dishes and the imaginative use of fresh ingredients along with the value for money prices soon provided the answer to any questions we might have had. The waitresses, particularly Sarah, were all charming and the chefs in the kitchen were unfailingly friendly and knew exactly what they were about. We were in awe at how efficiently they produced the food given the numbers of people they were serving. On the morning of our departure we were told that some 400 people were expected for the Sunday carvery!
Our twin room was very quiet and apart from the fact that the shower was a bit cramped the accommodation was adequate. This all pales into insignificance when one considers the quality of the food.
One tip. If you intend to check in for a stay you might be advised to arrive at about 5.30 pm. If you show up before then you may well not get in till then. When we arrived at about 4.30 there appeared to be no one about

For anyone who loves food. Brilliant customer service could live there. Been for a weeks holiday but been 3x in that week. Wonderful, pricey perhaps, but the quality is devine. Great menu shame we live in kent, too far away.

We stayed two nights and found everything to be first class. Whilst breakfast was an option at £10 per head - don't miss it, as it's well worth paying for. Try the haggis, which is specially bought down from Scotland. We also had an evening meal and were not disappointed with the very extensive menu or our choices. It is obvious, from the food produced, that the Kings Arms has a first rate chef with the prices being good value for money.

We visited this pub for the first time yesterday. I must say the food and service was fantastic. The choice of food available is second to none. Believe me, its well worth a visit if you like good food, nicely presented and value for money. I am a great believer in the saying "you get what you pay for". You certainly do here. Well done to the Chef and all the staff.
We will certainly be back.I would fully recommend " The Kings Arms ". If you haven't been yet, don't miss out. You will not be disappointed.

Having lived in the area for many years and eat out at one of the local pubs or restaurants at least once a week, we are never disappointed with the King's Arms in East Stour. The welcome and service is second to none. If there is nothing on the menu that you fancy, the chef is willing, within reason to provide what you ask for. Over the years , the standard of the decor has improved immeasurably. It is very unusual for the restaurant to be anything other than full. Locally it has a very high reputation. The owner, also one of the chefs, is often in the bar or restaurant seeking feedback from his customers. This is a gem in North Dorset and well worth stopping your journey on the A30 for a meal. I can't comment about the accommodation, but I have heard from guests who have stayed there, that the breakfasts are first class. It is somewhere to take friends and family as well. They are never disappointed.
