I would rate good rather than average.
Friendly staff. Clean, spacious rooms but basic with Ikea furniture. Ok for a weekend stay and good value.
Carpet in the entrance and stairs to the rooms really is grubby and should be replaced. That was my only gripe really.
Cooked Breakfast ok if a little greasy.
Not enough car parking spaces for the size of hotel (around 5 spaces)but pay and display next yo to the hotel.

I look for 3 things when staying away- bed, breakfast and bath towel! Hotel Aqua scored on all counts, the bed was very comfortable and the linen high quality, the breakfast was included in the very reasonable room rate, nothing fancy with a rather quaint cafeteria system, and the bath towel the size of a small African country ! We were staying one night doing a course and exam for the National Coastwatch Institute on the premises and although we live about 45 mins away we did not fancy the journey there and back and taking the course all on one day. Very helpful friendly staff, free parking although we could have had meals at the hotel we chose to eat at one of our favourite eateries- Crab House Cafe at Wyke Regis, a 5 min drive away.
Thank you Hotel Aqua for the stay and a very satisfactory result with the exam too!

Room Tip: We were in Room 109 on the 1st floor with an interconnecting door so you might have problems with inconsiderate neighbours (we didnt!)

I picked this hotel due to cost but I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived as the location was right beside the marina and Portland Castle.
Although the hotel wasn't perfect and a little old as well as extremely hot with no air con, I enjoyed my one night stay here.
The breakfast was nice and made to order which I liked.
Would definitely recommend this hotel for a short stay.
