We thoroughly enjoyed our one-night stay at this tasteful and comfortable b and b. We were made to feel like guests, not customers. The bedroom and ensuite were spotless. The owners were helpful, friendly and accommodating, and they prepared a delicious breakfast. We would certainly return!

Thanks to excellent previous reviews, we chose Turnstones for a one night stay in Portland, and received a warm welcome from Janet and Ian. Our room was lovely and the thoughtful use of colours and textures made it not only stylish, but also comfortable and restful. We even had a surprise sea view from the bed no less, and watched the seagulls flying back and forth and the sky as the sun set. Janet had advised we might be best to book a table for dinner as it was a Friday, and emailed a list of local eateries, a couple within easy walking distance. Breakfast was delicious and beautifully cooked and set us up for another day sightseeing and walking. We would certainly stay here again if we return to Portland.

Room Tip: We had the lovely front room with seaview

We found Turnstones B&B on Tripadvisor and loved it.
The house is a small Victorian three storey (Lots of steep and narrow stairs....Plan to leave most of your luggage in the car!!) home with three (I think) rooms.
Our room was large, very clean, well appointed and had a nice view of Chesil Beach and the bay beyond it.
The other couple we were traveling with had a room facing the rear, which was also very nice.
Janet and Ian were the perfect hosts. They provided us with tips on Portland, where to eat and whatever else we needed.
Breakfast was varied, freshly made from the best ingredients and was excellent.
Great B&B!!! Thanks Janet & Ian!!!!!!

Room Tip: We had the top floor room with a view to Chesil Beach. I believe this is the nicest room.

Stayed here for a work conference and had a lovely time. Wish I could have stayed for leisure instead! Lovely cooked breakfast and great coffee. The room was much nicer than I was expecting considering other properties nearby for similar price. Beautiful view from my window. Owners were lovely and welcoming. Highly recommended and I would be back here like a shot if I need to come down this way again.

Found this lovely B&B through Tripadvisor and everything said on the reviews is so true. A warm welcome received from Janet when we arrived and the third floor room was perfect with views of Chesil Beach. A choice of breakfast, cereal, cooked and fruit. Janet and Ian, and guests, are so friendly with all the information and tips you will need to discover Portland and neighbouring Weymouth, where to park, where's best to eat, best birdwatching, best walks, short cuts etc. This B&B is so homely and welcoming. Thank you both for making our first trip to Portland so perfect. (And the superfast broadband, courtesy of the Olympic Games, is a bonus too.)
