“Expensive”
Reviewed 8 August 2014

My family went for a meal here and stopped driving into the car park in my fiesta to be asked in a condescending tone do we have a reservation, when informed we did we were then directed into the car park where there weren't any spaces as were all taken by big posh expensive cars had to park in a disabled bay. Then followed a sign in the car park saying restaurant this way no more further signs directing you eventually found where we needed to go to check in, directed to the bar where told to take a seat and the bar an would bring them over looked around no seats in the bar eventually as not many seats in there due to size. When taken in to the restaurant we were seated in the conservatory part where initially it was warm enough as the temperature dropped they did not close the doors so we got cold even after asking for them to be closed. Onto the meal portion sizes were to small the steaks ordered were fine but nothing special and the fish dish was about a quarter of a portion of hake in a bowl and ordered a side of garden salad and received a small bowl of rocket and watercress not a salad to me then the pudding came out small again but took time explaining the cheeseboard but nothing on the other 2 dishies. Then the kick in the nuts the bill came £197 for 4 people's small dinners who were still hungry at the end and had to eat again when got home due to portion sizes. We won't be back not made to feel welcome and overpriced for what it is

“Great setting for average food”
Reviewed 7 August 2014

Can't understand the rave reviews about the food. Undercooked chicken and pork, surely not. If they want to be successful at these premium prices they need to sort out the kitchen.
Great setting, pleasant staff but overpriced average food.

“Excellent but don't be in a hurry.”
Reviewed 6 August 2014

Wonderful position with views over the bay, laid-back but mostly attentive staff. The food, though pricey, was excellent and different. It was almost difficult to choose what to have. In the event we all managed three courses, all of which were different and tasty. Four three course meals £150.00 including 12.5% service charge (which you could refuse to pay). Well worth the experience though allow plenty of time, and book well in advance.

“Judgemental”
Reviewed 4 August 2014 via mobile

If you need to feel inadequate or not good enough, just visit this establishment and it will help lower your self esteem. Hope they're sorted for customers over the long winter months if locals are not being made welcome.

“Not totally convinced”
Reviewed 4 August 2014

We were met at the door by a very casually dressed member of staff and shown to the bar. Here I stood at the bar for 5 minutes whilst two bar men were preparing drinks. Fed up with waiting to be acknowledged I sat down with our party and realised after another 5 minutes that it was waiter service, it would have been very helpful had the greeter explained this. The whole ethos of The Pig is locally grown and sourced food, much of which is from their own immaculately tended walled garden. The menu is very pork centric, there is a clue in the name I know. One of our party ordered the bath chap, an adventuresome choice. This dish was all about presentation the half pigs face, teeth and all was novel but be warned it appeared to consist 90% fat and crackling - our fault for not fully knowing what to expect. The other dishes were good but not great. It's one thing having fantastic ingredients with full provenance but another having the ability to produce great dishes which wasn't quite achieved. A little pretentious and trendy for my liking. The location, however, is fantastic.
