Stayed here over the weekend with a small group. This hotel could not be more centrally located. Walking distance to everywhere with shops, cafes, walks, boat trips all on the doorstep. Easy reach to Swanage or Poole or the wonderful Jurassic coast. The rooms were large, clean and comfortable. Staff and service excellent in very way. We ate here one evening and the food was very good. There is limited parking outside if you get here early enough otherwise it's £3.50 in the long term car park for 24 hours (400 yards away). Lots of real ales and decent wines at the bar and a nice courtyard to sit out in the summer. Slightly disappointed that the bar closed at 11.00 prompt with no extension for residents but not really an issue. Breakfast is plentiful with lots of hot options plus fresh fruit, cereals and yoghurts. Good value all round for the price. We would recommend this place highly.
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- The Red Lion, after years of neglect, has undergone a refurbishment totaling around half a million pounds. The Red Lion now boasts 8 individually designed bedrooms, all of which are en-suite and some are suites. We have a formal restaurant, a relaxed snug dining area and comfortable bar with a great selection of lagers, ales, wines, premium spirits and champagnes. We are situated on the town cross in the centre of Wareham, the gateway to the Jurassic coast. Wareham is beautifully placed to tour the South coast.
