“Lovely food, shame about the indifferent service”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 August 2014

Dreadful service. It seems that the waitress didn't like us as she left us sitting waiting for our table for nearly twenty minutes after it was ready then blamed her colleague for not telling us.

One of the meals came with only two roast potatoes so we had to ask for more.

When we had finished and the table was finally cleared, I asked for the sweet menu and the same waitress who had left us waiting said "Yes, of course". A quarter of an hour later I went to the toilet and she was sitting at the bar laughing with her colleagues. We then saw her being driven home by the barman while we were still waiting for the sweet menu. We paid and left.

Excellent food, what a shame that we are apparently invisible and the staff amnesiac!

“could do better”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 August 2014

visited with two children who loved the playhouse, but alas, the food was very disappointing. The fish was so so, with half of it tasting freshly caught and the other half as though it had been taken out of the freezer, having been in it for a while...a bit dry and smelly.
Also an average tasteless pie. scampi was good, but the lasagne again was pretty inedible. Looked promising but for the price- it was very disappointing food. Beer was very nice though.

“Poor lunch.!!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 August 2014

This was my 1st visit to The King's Arms, and when you come across a beautiful looking pub and nice décor inside ~ it's then a 'Huge' disappointment, when the lunch doesn't match up to everything else. I only wanted a simple lunch and ordered an egg n cress baguette. The baguette was stale, and I asked the waitress if the bread was todays... she said, I don't know, i'll go and check.!!! ( Wrong answer ) She then came back and said, oh, the chef has now got some fresh baguettes. So WHY was the chef sending out stale bread.????? What a disgrace. It still wasn't a great sandwich, and maybe you should try Delice de France, as the bread wasn't crisp as a baguette should have been. The egg was bland and not seasoned. But the waitresses were very nice and polite. Will I come back ~ maybe, but not for a sandwich.!!

“A bit ordinary”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 August 2014

Expected more given the atmosphere. The waitresses worked hard but the food was very ordinary. My salmon was very modest in size and the accompanying salad was rather tired. And we never did get the wine list. Bit too "fast food" maybe. There are better places around. At least parking was easy.

“3 visits”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 July 2014

Staying in the area for a week, and really enjoyed visiting the pub, staff, ambience and menu were great. We are in the area again later in the year, and will be vising again.

Just one hiccup, there was wake on our last visit, and after getting the main meal, we seemed o be forgotten, although we did get served eventually.
