We visited on 12 May 2014 with another couple just for a cup of afternoon tea. Although we were pretty scruffy in our anoraks jeans and walking boots (plus wet as it was pouring), the staff made us very welcome and seated in the comfortable antique furnitured lounge. I cannot pretend it was cheap as the tea cost £4 a cup, but we were served really nicely with two fine pots of tea in a proper white china tea service, with teapot, doily, tray - the full 'English' tea works and with the bonus of a home made biscuit each! We did not stay there and so cannot comment on the bedrooms, but the public rooms are really olde worlde, immaculate and brilliantly different, very comfortable and welcoming. There is beautiful garden stretching down to the river, so we definitely would return.

Our visit to Wareham was the second in fifteen years and little has changed at The Priory, well it has been updated etc. but it still the same dependable hotel so very close to Wareham’s centre.
Our room was called a suite, it said so on the door, but wasn’t. I do feel sometimes eloquence gets in the way of truth sometimes, but no matter, the room was excellent on all respects and well up to date with Wi-Fi etc.
We chose room service for our evening meal and it all arrived course by course without any fuss and was most enjoyable.
A very quiet night was had in the room together with a good night’s comfortable sleep in what really was a King Sized bed.
Breakfast was taken in the dining room and was of the same quality, with very good coffee. My only thought was it was so quiet, with a chap standing a bit butlerish close by. just seemed odd is all I’m saying.
Very dependable. Well worth the visit.

Perfect surroundings, friendly service, lovely food, gorgeous views. I didnt stay at the hotel but if the restaurant and grounds are anything to go by, I wouldnt hesitate to recommend it. Just perfect!

You could hardly find a better position for a lovely old-fashioned hotel. Our room (number 4) had a lovely view over the garden and river to the far hills. We have been coming here over a long period and it has hardly changed at all in that time though the bedrooms are updated from time to time and our bathroom was to die for. Our evening meals were superb though the menu does not change from day to day so that if you stayed for several days you would probably want to eat somewhere else some days. On the other hand the breakfasts were poor. While its oldfashioned-ness is in many ways its attraction there are some ways in which it needs to modernise and the breakfasts are one example. Also some of the staff could do with a lesson in modern attitudes towards paying customers.

Room Tip: The rooms in the boathouse are good in good weather though a bit of a walk from the main hotel if it...

Stayed in this Fabulous Hotel for 2 nights. The room was average size but very comfortable especially the bed.
Nothing was too much trouble and the service 2nd to none. We had lunch there on our 1st day and the waitress insisted on carrying our drinks and lunch upstairs to a private little sitting room overlooking the garden and river.
The Hotel has a feel of a luxury house instead of a Hotel
In the evening we had pre dinner drinks and canapes in the comfortable Drawing room and then taken down into the cellar style Restaurant .The food was amazing and after this wonderful meal we were then shown upstairs to have coffee and delicious home made petite fours
Lovely Garden area that leads down to the river with outside dining if required
.All in all a great weekend and we were made to feel like VIP'S Good old fashioned courteous service

Room Tip: Room with a garden view is better, you can also upgrade

We had dinner here yesterday evening to celebrate my daughters special birthday. We have eaten here several times before and we were really looking forward to a special meal. Unfortunately this was not so, the starters lacked seasoning, the main courses were overcooked, especially the venison. The only saving grace was the desserts which were excellent. When asked by the waitress had we enjoyed our meal I did tell her that it was disappointing, to which she replied that she would inform the chef. We heard no more from them, not a good exercise in customer relations. Considering the cost of the meal plus wine I would hesitate before returning to the Priory again.
