“Worst valentines ever!”
Reviewed 17 February 2014

Stayed here on Friday 14th February for valentines and it was the most un-romantic place I ever stayed at, the restaurant was like a village hall, old and musky with no atmosphere, there was no effort made at all to make it a cosy romantic evening, no table decoration, no candles, no soft background music. We were unable to use the spa and pool as the wind destroyed the building and although I except this was unforeseen it was included in the price, which wasn't cheap. Left a message of complaint on Saturday and was told the manager would get straight back to me on Monday but I haven't heard anything. All in all this is a tired hotel that needs new management who care about their customers and bring the full potential out of what could be a really great hotel.

Stayed for valentines weekend, it was a lovely peaceful place to stay, all the staff were friendly and helpful and the valentines meal was amazing, our room looked over the beautiful koi pond. Lovely surroundings.

I did say I would write a nice review but having got home and checked the bill....to find out we have been over charged! which has been rather difficult to try and explain to the member of staff we have just spoken to! I have to say a couple of little things
the good bits.....
we could take our dog and most other people staying seemed pleased to see him :-)
The food is good ( have been twice before for " work parties")
Some of the staff are really sweet
Rooms are clean
Let us take breakfast up to our room ( thank god as there's £5 extra per person to have room service on top of the actual charge)

now (sorry Michelle because you were great)
reception-
twice the receptionist looked at us like we were from Mars as we dared to ask her a) could we book for dinner.... err ummm squinting at us like we had asked for something outrageous.... well err we don't have a table til 9-9.30... too late for us.... but she added you can just go up and see if there's a table anytime you want- which kind of negates the whole booking question!?!
b) we then shock horror asked for an extra pillow... we forgot until about 10 pm (sorry) after glaring at us again.... umm err well I shouldn't really be here I don't know .... more squinting and glaring.
well we said who "should be here- we will ask them"
silence came the response
eventually she said I will have to go and look but one of you will have to stay here end one will have to come with me.....ok no prob until she came out from reception with a fair amount of sighing and said in a rude and exasperated tone said one of you had to stay here - who is staying here?"... actually calm down one of us was going to stay there!
I dread to think what might have happened if we had asked for something less ordinary :-)

One of the waitresses was really rather moody and thoroughly inattentive and obviously does not want to be in a customer focused service industry (now trust me we are VERY easy going)...

The water - which thanks to the chap at the leisure facility we know is spring fed... from a fresh water spring - no. really??? lol the water was lovely khaki colour...the bath the sink all of it... not their fault as it's spring fed you know and to be fair the storms were awful could have been an idea to just let folk know when they check in as it would save the moaning :-)

To be honest we have been here before- it's local and the dog is welcome BUT considering the prices charged it really isn't ticking all of the boxes one would expect- either drop the prices and have less complaints ( we know lots of people did) or up the service and the quality of staff training and have happier guests :-)
I would dearly love to give some customer service training to some of the staff or they could just leave because they obviously don't like people......
people buy people first - great staff (like Michelle ) let you get away with a slightly tired shabby country hotel- they make your business :-)

sorry about the dreadful storms and the jacuzzi roof blowing off and the little bridge landing on the carp pond....awful for you
even more awful that some customers complained.... we are good in Dorset but can't quite control acts of god....YET

Just hope we get the refund promised :-) for the overcharge!!

We had high hopes about a short stay at the Springfield...sadly it was from beginning to the end a bad experience.
The hotel is shabby. Décor is dated & in poor condition.
Wifi didn't work in rooms.
Bar prices are very high.
Water coming out of taps (hot & cold) had a urine colour...it was awful.
Sauna barely worked, Door wouldn't close properly.
Swimming pool had lots of sand/grit at the bottom?
Hot tub was out of order.
Roof above hot tub bits of 2 x 4 holding it together, most of the veneered wood was falling down, maybe this was why the hot tub was out of use.
Changing rooms are basic and in poor condition, few lockers work.
Showers lime scaled up.
Evening meal was tasteless but the pudding was good.
However the breakfast was shocking...Shame on the management of this hotel.
So let me sum this place up for you...
OVERPRICED!
RUN DOWN!
NOTHING WORKS!
And my advice to anyone thinking of visiting Wareham....AVOID THIS PLACE.

Me and my partner have just got back from a very enjoyable weekend from this hotel! Ive been around hotels for years worked and stayed in! Please visit this one the grounds and gardens are really nice, very spacious and comfy lounge area to relax, spa facilities are decent and again relaxing! Our room was amazing huge bath and walk in shower and balcony, king sized bed best sleep ive had in a hotel! It was 1st floor exec room. Breakfast was good staff very on the ball and happy with a choice of full english or continental! There could be improvements made to the decor and making better use of the large building they have all in all definately stay again!

Hotel needs major work very old fashioned. Staff need personality. Service was poor very moody staff. Food was expensive and very poor, microwaved chill and green jacket potatoes.
Breakfast was burnt and cold. Hotel haven't responded to emails, having sent 2.

An excellent venue to celebrate our Christmas party. The menu was good and food was well presented and tasty. The staff were warm, friendly and accommodating. The facilities where all in good working order. A well managed country club.
