“Great Hotel for business/social”
Reviewed 23 July 2014

We have used the Springfield Hotel for many years. We go back year after year because of the excellent service, friendly staff and overall satisfaction of our annual event. Wonderful breakfasts, mouth-watering evening meals, even when we turn up with en-mass with 50 hungry tummies – not an issue for the Springfield. Both standard and executive rooms are well furnished and a well-stocked bar for those late night/early morning tipples. Overall, highly recommended and we will return yet again next year.

Room Tip: Treat yourself to an executive room - highly recommended

We stayed at Springfield Country Hotel for one night. We took three rooms, a family room, Double and a single room. Considering the hotel had only reopened 2 weeks ago, we were a little surprised at how dated the rooms were. The room sizes are good, clean and tidy the bathrooms were nice and the shower was fantastic. The hotel staff were all very friendly and very helpful, I do understand a few the negative comments below, on a number of occasions we did have to ask and re ask, but I do think this is only because the hotel had only just re-opened and there are a few teething problems, which I am sure will be resolved soon. They were holding a 70s disco the night we stayed, I was concerned about the noise as I am a light sleeper, but I didn't hear a thing. The Wi-Fi was down on the Saturday, after a restart of the router on the Sunday, it was up and running smoothly on the Sunday morning. The heated outdoor swimming pool was fantastic, we all had a late afternoon dip and the kids it was fantastic. The indoor pool also looked fantastic. Defiantly take your swimmers

Room Tip: No AC in the hotel, the family room had a fan.

I cannot condone any of the terrible comments made by other folks. We stayed for 2 nights everyone we met there, guests and staff were all very happy and helpful. The staff could not do enough to ensure our stay was very pleasant. Service in bars and restuarants was excellent as was the quality of the food.
The room was very clean, and cleaned every day with all fresh linen as one would expect. The pools were in excellent order, the heated outdoor pool was a great pleasure to use as was the jakuzi. We thorougly enjoyed using these facilities, we did not try any others.
Yes there is a degree of updating ongoing and thus a little disruption , but we all have to endure these things to improve and the new receptions shows the standard the improvements are making, excellent.

Room Tip: Guess 2nd floor is the best away from the car park currently.

We stayed at the Springfield this weekend and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Warm clean outdoor pool, beautiful grounds, delicious lunch. The staff went out of their way to be helpful and were super polite and friendly. We had arranged a BBQ party on the grounds in the evening and the food was exquisite and reasonably priced, we had lots of compliments from our party stating they were the best burgers they had ever had. We had wifi in our room and used it throughout the hotel with no issues. Our room was clean and in good condition with lots of character. Will definitely be coming back.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the rooms with a balcony over looking the swimming pool, you get the sun all evening...

Terrible stay. So many negatives.

Very rude staff. They are clueless, you have to do all the asking. Bar staff, very rude.
No wifi in our room. Then got told well its very hit and miss.
Very outdated, 1970s-1980s. Come on the place looks so old and tired and dated. Looks like a retirement home.
Very unclean in our room and in swimming pool area.
Very over priced for our room, breakfast and your bar.
Breakfast very very bad. Hard pouched eggs. Really!!! Waste of money.

Hated this place. DO NOT STAY. IF YOU DO YOU ARE WASTING YOUR MONEY. IT IS DREADFUL.

I SHOULD HAVE READ REVIEWS FIRST.

Room Tip: Do not stay! That's my tip.

I came here with my cousin and had a nice break. Could not fault the staff they were so friendly except for one bar person who huffed when you asked for something!!!

The hotel was so quiet. The hotel has alot to do inc spa area, tennis, squash, fitness studio, gym, snooker and pool. We had a massage and it was good.

Yes the furniture is dated everywhere and some need replacing. despite this however the hotel is spotlessly clean.

The hotel is currently having building work going on in areas but this did not effect us.

Downside was the outside pool was not ready to be used which was a disappointment as we were lucky to be here on a beautiful day.

We had an offer from hi life and if same deal comes up will certainly come back. I recommend you upgrade to get an executive room you then have a large balcony with table and chairs and you will then have beautiful views of the gardens.

Went for a special day with friends and it was ruined by rude staff. We all booked a deal to use the spa and to have a treatment. The hotel is dated but there was visible signs of work being done to update it. The spa was ok tho asking the staff a question and then they walk off was not a good start. By the pool there are only 4 beds and no where else to put your robes so we had to put them on the floor.
At 1230 we went for lunch this is where it all went wrong. We went to the bar to order to which we were rudely told by the female waitress that she was on her break (at lunch time). After a huff she told us to get the menus back, when ordering told us to not go so fast, asked us how much items were and if we had a calculator to add it up. She snapped at us and I cant tell you how many huffs she did. When we had finished we were all in shock how rude she was.

The treatments were good and the therapist's were the only nice members of staff there. We were quick to leave after and wont be returning.
