This is the third time we have stayed here. We came last May 13 and also in July/August school holidays and each time we've had a fab time. Always plenty of space to pitch the tent and always loads of children for my children to make friends with.

What I love about this site is the friendly atmosphere. Everyone speaks to each other even if it's just a friendly "hello" or "morning!"

The mud was bad this time but with a bit of hot soapy water and a visit to the laundry in Swanage (basically killing two birds with one stone) it was job done!

We are hoping to be back in July/August for Carnival week so looking forward to our next awesome visit to Burnbake.

My one and only quibble was the fact that noise really does travel as if talking through megaphones and as there were a few larger groups it did get quite noisy at times but having said that it can't really be helped.

Just returned from the bank holiday weekend. We had booked as a group but it was a free for all on the field with no organisation so we couldn't all fit in. Consequently we could barely observe a 6cm rule, let alone a 6m rule with our friends and unfortunately we were practically on top of another group. No room for a fire. The facilities are rustic with hot water running out and they could be cleaner. Portaloos in the events field were a shock but were actually ok and emptied daily and probably saved queues in the main block.
On the plus side, the shop was useful and the kids loved finding things/sweets to waste their money on. Cafe was good too. Woods were a great playground.
If the weather had been nicer my feedback would probably be better but I do feel like I've been to a music festival without the music. The site is very muddy with few substantial hard paths.
Take waders and a sense of humour if going on a bank holiday with a group.
Place needs investment and proactive management.

Burnbake is a family campsite that allows some freedom to let the youngsters have some fun. Although its just the wife and I now that go camping I have to say that we wouldn't camp anywhere else near Swanage. Its not regimented like other sites and the pitching fees are very reasonable considering its great location. Yes it is noisy at night but if you want complete silence go and pay through the nose somewhere else. The staff are friendly and willing to help. They now hire out fire pits that are great at night and really do bring that real camping feeling like the old days, not that i'm that old at 54. Come and experience a real camping experience at a site that doesn't overwhelm you with do's and dont's. Happy Camping

We have been coming to this place 30 years. We came with our kids when they were young, we brought the grandchildren, and this year we came as a couple bringing our 36 year old daughter. Year after year the same kids would come back and our children would see old and new friends! Even this year we came in the school summer holidays......yes it was crowded...but we enjoyed it. Yes we did have some noisy people but it didn't go on too late at night. The walks in the forest are wonderful and all the staff are really helpful. We remember Tessa being wheeled around in a pushchair by her father Tim who collected the rent and he was known as the Rent Man! Now Tessa is back and is one people in charge! Yes, the washrooms get a bit crowded at times....but who cares...you don't spend much time in the toilets!!! The atmosphere is terrific! May this place go on for ever!!

We've just come back from staying at the campsite and on arrival we thought it looked great. We arrived on a Tuesday and it was very busy, took a while to find somewhere to pitch up. Luckily we found somewhere with no one to close, unfortunately it was near the shower block/ toilets and during our stay we had a strong smell of sewage...Yuck!! The campsite is set in lovely woodlands with lots of rope swings for children. A little shop that sold all the essentials you would need. Shower block and toilets were pretty basic but were quite dirty due to it always being very busy! There were plenty off places to wash your dishes. As for staff, the signs says pitch up and we'll come see you to collect your fee... Well we never saw anyone during our stay so before we left we had to go find the management to pay! Overall the campsite is set in a beautiful location, lots of woodlands and Good facilities. But it does gets very noisy and very busy...
