My husband and I had a lovely day out looking around the 17th century house which is beautifully decorated and lots of paintings throughout. We took a picnic with us and there are plenty of places to sit and eat and relax.
The grounds are stunning and lots of areas to discover including the Japanese garden. We were lucky with the weather and was sunny and warm which made the day perfect

Visited the gardens but didn't have time for the house as last admission is 4pm. Amazing Japanese garden and tea garden - great selection of bamboo and acers. Lovely kitchen garden although it takes 15 minutes to walk there from the main house. Had lunch in the tea rooms - a little pricey. Hope to return to visit the house.

A house with an interesting history. Worth doing a little research before you go to get the most out your visit. A very accessible house; most of the rooms were avaiable to see. Fantastic laundry, though a shame the original kitchen is now the shop. Gardens lovely and gardeners approachable, great for children with toys on the lawn, woodland walks, stepping logs and Daisymaze. Gardens accessible to pushchairs and mobility impaired. The kitchen garden is a work in progress, though not always open. Tea shop typical NT scones and sandwiches. Parking very easy and shady.

A beautiful place to visit with kids, breathtaking gardens, places to explore, great childrens play area - hours of fun for all the family. A lovely spot for a picnic before you enter the grounds, so you can use this and not have to pay to enter! We are members and this is a place we will visit again and again as the kids just love it - and the canons! Great cups of tea and fab scones - for when you need a sit down and the kids need an ice cream. Have managed to visit the house yet, the grounds are just too enticing and when its sunny and dry we'd much rather be outside!

This 17th Century Mansion was the home of the same family for more than 300 years and contains an amazing collection of furniture and artwork amassed over the years. The property is managed by The National Trust whose helpful and friendly volunteers are on hand to answer questions.
