“Family Day out”
Reviewed 24 July 2012

The children liked the trail book and the space outside. Nanna and Grandad liked the history and the coffee shop. Fab day out for all.

“A National Trust gem!”
Reviewed 20 July 2012

A very interesting house and family history with plenty of original paintings, furniture and other possessions. Gardens and woodland walks for all, snd head for the kitchen garden so that your little ones can play on the tractors!

“Surprise and delight”
Reviewed 19 July 2012

Visited on our way home from Dorset on a damp day using our national trust membership. I had not looked at the house details so expected the "usual" stately home. I was wrong. The interiors are superb, it reminded me of Chatsworth house: fantastic ceilings, leather wall coverings, carvings, grand staircases and great works of art.
We rambled through the damp gardens a while, very nice but wished I could have enjoyed them in the sunshine.
I would realy recommend a visit and if you can get some sunshine, take a picnic.
I noticed admission is £13 for an adult, my advice, join the national trust, get your entrance fee refunded and enjoy more places.

“Beautiful place”
Reviewed 13 July 2012

It is an Italian style house, beautifully furnished, especially the Spanish room with it's gold ceiling and leather covered walls.
